TOPIC: Con Groups - sub groups

Con Groups - sub groups 6 years 9 months ago #1

I suggested this a while back but must have been forgotten.

For each Con group we need to break it down into 3 sub headings instead of just the one.

Looking for Others in Run
Looking for More for Run
Looking for a Run

That way people that are posting openings in their run aren't mixed in with people looking for who else might be in their run, and vice versa.

I could see separating out the "looking for a run" from the others, but "looking for others" and "looking for more" seem similar enough to me to stay together.

I disagree Andrew. Someone looking for the others who bought tickets for a run is very different than someone who bought out an entire run and is looking for others to join (buy a ticket for) the run.

I see the groupfinding process as going in one of two directions - "I have a time slot, who wants to join me?" or "I'm looking for a time slot to join."

To me, both LFO and LFM threads are variations on the first, just with different requirements. To get into a LFO spot, you have to already have a ticket. To get into a LFM slot, you have to agree to the difficulty and remaining classes. In both cases, one thread corresponds to one time slot. Both will turn into discussion of class assignments, token builds and strategy.

LFG is the other direction. The thread only lasts until the player finds a group, at which time discussion moves to the LFM thread. LFO and LFM threads are both "permanent."

LFM - Looking for More - A group that has tickets, and it looking for more people to join their group. The people that would look through here don't have a ticket and are wanting in on a run.

LFO - Looking for others - A person already has a ticket and wants to find others that have tickets to the same run as them.

LFR - Looking for Run - This one is kind of the lazy man of Looking for More... This again is for the groups wanting to fill their run with people, and there are some out there too lazy to look through the LFM group.

We could just use the first two groups, but I think the LFR would be where we could put other topics that don't quite fit into LFM or LFO...

When I see "Looking for Run" I think of a player who has no tix, hasn't gone thru the LFM threads (yet), but still wants to get in on a run.

So, when a pair of regular players get shut out, they might post, "2 Hardcore-ready players, looking for run. Saturday preferred."

Or a newbie might log on, saying "Hi I've never done TD before and missed out on tickets. Does anyone have room for a newbie in their group? Willing to play any class!"
