TOPIC: Video

Video 18 years 10 months ago #13

I have some lighting and videography training on top of my acting... I'd love to help. Perhaps while things are being set up (in full light), have a "behind the scenes" being filmed showing assembly, the traps being set, combat plans, etc. Interviews, before & afters, a still gallery, all that good stuff. Do a full light run-through with "director commentary," and a couple segments showing just how dark it is. Talk with questers in the tavern before and after they enter, have a cameo by death, all that good stuff.

I think one thing really is time and man power(not going to consider costs because I have no idea of such things). I mean event set up is supposed to start at 6pm tuesday night. In about what 24 hours(less ?) The entire event must be erected, all rooms have their props/traps operational, be decorated, and everyone trained before going living wednesday afternoon/eveing?
So you don't have time to set up one room at a time, you have to break up into groups and start building it all at one time.
Now mind you, I'm not trying to poopah the video thing. I think it would be cool to say to my folks, hey look there's me setting up the Tavern. Just pointing out some of the difficulties and constraints inherent to the beast.

Yeah, practicality and creativity rarely walk hand in hand :-P Finding a nice mesh of the two is an art in and of itself. I call that art "directing," and I don't do much of it if I can help it :-P

Well a video be nice after Gen-Con and be posted on the website for further funding for TD. People could buy the video as a nice memento. Also a nice behind the scenes, commentary and so forth could be added as well. Dealing with the light situation run it with full light on or medium light. A new video can be made every year. I know it is alot of work, but think it will be worth it. Then previous years could be sold at future Cons.
Also Maybe have the camera set up to film the process of building the Dungeon on fast foward.

This was done in the past. Tom filmed the set up of the dungeon in SoCal in 2003 and posted on the web site, I do not know if it is available any more. I am not sure why we did not continue to do this for 2004, or maybe we did and publishing it fell between the cracks.

You should know better than to pick up a duck in a dungeon....
