<br />Exploding pidgeons anyone?  (those who played that adventure during previous Gencons will understand)<br />As far as guns, remember that guns of that era were very unreliable, and tended to backfire.  Trained archers were much more deadly.  Fire arms of the time were popular, because they did not require nearly as much training as bows and had better range than crossbows.  While the weapon was somewhat more expensive, the troops using them were much cheaper...and therefore expendable. <br /><br />So...you take your matchlock and I will take my composite longbow into the dungeon and see who walks out.  =D<br />

Okay, so how does this sound? A "gun" (pick a name) has a six point (five plus a star) damage wheel. It should do well above average damage, but if the star is closest to the dot on the board, it backfires and does five damage to the wielder.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Love the Gamers movies. I hate the idea of guns in my fantasy games. Don't know why, just do. What about the light sabre and chainsaw, anything in the trunk right?

For the inaccuracy of the weapons of the era, the damage wheel should be something like 0,2,0,4,0,8<br />Even if you hit, it may not do any damage.
