TOPIC: Optimize my build

I can't imagine we would all be immune to dragon fear...I mean what is the point of having things that work VS fear, if we all (including folks that did not do the adventure last time) are immune to fear.  <br /><br />Seems like a useless NERF to me...that is unless there is just too much other stuff to worry about...(ranged attacks only - unlimited breath weapon attacks - magic resistance - yadda yadda)

I can see the flying dragon, but the long spear of dragon slaying seems to suggest at least some ground level combat.  It would be sad to have the purp and not be able to use it.  Can you use a spear as a missile weapon?<br />

Yes, spears are compound weapons, you can use them in melee or as ranged weapons.

No, _some_ spears hypothetically could be compound weapons. The longspear, for instance, isn't.

Erf. It shouldn't be. We debated ages ago that you couldn't throw the longspear (not only because it was ridiculous) but because of balance issues. The MWLS was sort of an abnormality in a lot of ways. Non-magical but with an effectively magical bonus. Everytime I see that +3 greatsword image I want to howl in rage and disappointment. If only I had a GT and picked that card....I'd be sporting a +3 MWLS with an average damage of 8.5.

Christ, you're right. It is listed as a compound. That's just not right. You can't throw a long spear.<br /><br />Though...the ridiculous part is if the ruling holds I've got 4 or so and throwing them would make them equal to the best range weapon in the game for butch classes in dealing damage. With a ring of the serpent (an UC) it becomes the best. Not bad for a combo token.

<br /><br />I dunno that many of us even bother to read the token guide. There are a couple of diehards who go through it looking for errors a few times a year but it's messy and requires not only the anal-retentive gene, but also the one that gives you an eidetic memory for forum posts.
