TOPIC: Time to start developing the 2012 tokens yet?

[quote=Of course, being a surviving member (one of two) of one of the few groups to down Smoak, I think that a more permanent token (pun intended) of that experience would be great too ;)

Failing those two good options howsabout this:

COMBO Item: Charm of Pelor's Mighty Chosen Awesomeness (name needs work)
Effect: Character is level 5

Ingredients: Three pieces of the Might set, Something of Pelor

Reason: Yeah, it's costly... but it could be well worth it to the well geared. It would also preserve the "value" of the might set... which people seem to be rather concerned with.

If people were less concerned about the value of the might set, it could be opened up to any ONE Might item + some other purps or something... the idea is to make a sacrifice to Pelor for the xp or something like that...

My 2cents[/quote]

As one of the members of both a nightmare and regular run in which we killed Smoak, I wouldn't trade the survivor button for anything. But I love the idea of a reward token that would give a one time bump to level 5. I think it would be popular, and I don't think it would ruin the might set, it would be used up soon enough.

The Might Set turn in item would have to be pretty cool and do more then just bump your level because of the three items that you are turning in. This could work though, it would just have to be worth the three items.

I am opposed to purple items used in combos or purple consumbables. (Still need to get those Elemental rings...)

A single non-consumable token that gives you a level increase is WAY too powerful, especially in the charm slot. Wil's Dragonheart Charm is only +4 hp. A charm that gave you a level increase would be way more powerful.

The question really becomes: Is playing a level 5 character meant to be ONLY a reward for the Purple Monsters out there?

If that's the case, cool.

I think that what people are working out here is, though, possible alternatives to that...

I would assume that there will be other ways to get to level 5 at some point... if only because it's going to be pretty boring for all the Purple Monsters to all be using the same gear.

I also like the idea of a purp charm that gives +1 level but doesn't allow any other purps to be equipped.

I like this:I also like the idea of a purp charm that gives +1 level but doesn't allow any other purps to be equipped..except I would make it a potion and make it a rare (one use)..like a potion with a curse.

potion is NOT too strong for a rare (the curse) but too weak to be a purp

I like the idea of making the Potion of Heroism a reward token. It means they won't flood the market, but will still be somewhat available.

I don't think making a purple charm that's a trade in for three Might items makes sense. Three purples, each with a useful power and a combined secondary power for one with only the secondary power? It doesn't seem fair, and is pretty expensive (or are we circling back to the Rind of Supreme Elemental Mastery?).

If it has to be a permanent item, just a flat item in a more useful slot would be better. I'm now leaning towards a Belt of Advancement.

Even though it didn't get accepted last year, I still like the idea of giving Wizards 'Tome' weapons that use INT to hit instead of STR or DEX.

I would also like to see a set of Red charms that give +1 to a stat.

And the Monk needs more love. The Monk currently has to give up three item slots to be effective; so he should get something for the armor slot (that only he can use?) that doesn't improve AC.

:lightbulb:

How about a single use, reward Ring of Heroism? Still a redeemable token, but as its drawback, it consumes a prime slot for the adventure? And by making it a reward token, it would still be somewhat limited.
