TOPIC: Raven's Rough Guide to Token Trading - W.I.P.

Re: Raven's Rough Guide to Token Trading - W.I.P. 11 years 6 months ago #73

So was there ever thoughts of doing a more advanced version of this document? I understand the need to keep it simple and filled with the info that only a new player may need, but there is possibly more useful trading information that could be useful for the next step. The first thing that comes to mind is: Where do Artifacts, Legendaries, and Relics fit into the hierarchy of tokens? What is the appropriate avenues to these type of tokens. Maybe some useful by slot breakdown of good tokens or by class breakdown of what bonuses are most beneficial (or is that more of a character themed write-up as apposed to a token themed write-up?).

Oh, almost forgot...

This guide is great!

I'm that casual player that Raven mentioned with this setup almost to a tee:

Raven wrote: Bastard Sword+1
Platemail
Tower Shield
Torq of Natural Armour
Ring of Protection +1
Ring of the Deep
Gauntlets of Ogre Power
Belt of Ogre Strength
Cloak of Resistance +2
Potion of Death's Door

But recently, a couple of people from my group want to get more into the token side of the game. This guide is a great starter, but for someone that's been playing since 2007 and is familiar with a lot of this, just from being around it, I'm wanting a little more. I guess I could pick all you your brains one at a time, but a more advanced version of this doc might be something you guys feel would be useful.

Thoughts?

I think one thought is that this is a guide for those that are really new to True Dungeon and tokens and might have no idea of which tokens are valuable. Once someone starts thinking of getting Relics, Legendaries, and Artifacts they probably already have a very good understanding of tokens at that point.

A more advanced guide, maybe posted on the True Dungeon site, is something to think about.

That's not a bad idea, Legion. I'm not the right person to write an "advanced" guide, but if someone else wanted to front that effort, I'd love to contribute.

Something you would need to clarify before heading into that project, though: Are you making the advanced guide for *Traders* (ie, people who want to get into some serious token trading) or *Players* (people who want to min/max their chances for surviving the dungeon and are looking at relics etc as a means to that end).

- If it's the former, the guide would focus more on trends in token trading, increasing levels of power in tokens vs. the difficulty to acquire them, power creep (ie, not investing too heavily in tokens which are likely to become obsolete in X years) and predicting market values.

- If it's aimed at players, the guide would focus more on perfecting your build, which tokens are best for which slots; looking at the trade-off between high AC vs +damage, where to get tokens on the cheap to fit your current build without breaking the bank (ie, picking up those tokens which the serious traders are off-loading because they are becoming obsolete) and predicting which tokens will be vital in the coming year's dungeon.

I suspect that either version of the advanced guide would also need frequent revisions in order to stay current.
