True Dungeon Character Generators (App) 1 month 3 weeks ago #1633

All damage to players, besides push damage and most eldritch damage, always applies to Melee, Range or Spell DR. In your fireball cases, those calculations are correct, assuming Spell DR 3 and Fire DR 3 (not from Deathward Greaves).
If you are hit with dragon breath, that will likely be Spell DR and Fire DR. If you get hit by a dragon claw, Melee DR applies. If you get hit by a darkrift bolt, that would be Range DR and Darkrift DR.
Some damage does not have environmental effects, like a dragon claw, so only the Melee DR or Range DR would apply. If the damage is Cold or Fire, or Shock, etc., then you get the attack type DR and the environmental DR.

Pardon me for still being confused. Maybe it's the "not from Deathward Greaves" wording that you used. Maybe this will help:

If I only have the Deathward Greaves equipped and no other DR items and I get hit with a fireball from a wizard that does 10 points of damage. What is my total DR? 3 or 6?

Deathward Greaves provides 3 damage resistance against all damage except Eldritch or Push damage.
For the example 10 point Fireball, it provides 3 reduction leaving 7 points.

That is why it only shows up in Melee, Range and Spell resistance, so it only gets counted once for each attack.

Got it ok thank you. I'm guessing the website character creator should be updated to reflect this.

I just noticed something. In the app when my Barbarian goes from 4th to 5th level all categories in the Damage Resistance section (except Eldritch) are increase by 1. Doesn't this go against what was just discussed about the Deathward Greaves which only increases the Melee, Ranged and Magic sections? The wording on the Barbarian 5th level character card is almost synonymous with the wording on the TokenDB for the Deathward Greaves. Based on what was said earlier, I would think that when going from 4th to 5th level only the Melee, Ranged and Magic sections in the app should increase by 1?

The above is correct. I just wanted to point out that the following (from an earlier post):

is wrong. DR should apply AFTER the save, not before. For example: you have 3 spell DR and 2 fire DR. A monster casts a 10-point fireball at you, but you succeed a save for half. First, the save reduces it to 5 fire damage, then your spell DR reduces it to 2 damage, then your fire DR reduces it to the final result of 0 damage taken.

I stand corrected. Before VTD (like fighting Smoak) it was DR first and 1/2 of the remaining with a saving throw. In checking the Player guide, I see that has flipped, so the 1/2 from saving throws is done first, and then DR applied to what is left. In short Andrew is correct.

Cranston, thank you for all your hard work on the app! For planning purposes, do you expect to release an updated version before Ring Con? I’m particularly wondering whether the new Marks of Enlightenment will be added to the app.

There are no plans at the moment to submit a new build before Ring Con. The next planned release will be for Gencon. I expect the Artificer will be in place for Gencon. Mark of Enlightenment is still debatable. The variable nature of the Mark of Enlightenment makes it complicated to say the least.

- Armor of Berserker no shield only gives +4 to Missile AC, should be +5. It is correctly giving +5 to Melee AC.
- Lenses of Sage Sight not in the list for my Bard or Cleric, not sure about other classes.
- When equipping Ioun Stone Opal Prism it is not providing a +1 increase to the Poly damage.
- App is not providing the +1 damage resistance to Ranged for the Elf Wizard Saga skill, however when I create a brand new Elf Wizard there's a +1 in Melee to hit which is strange because there should not be a bonus at 11 strength, maybe the app is incorrectly giving the +1 Saga skill to the Elf's Melee to hit instead of damage resistance?
