TOPIC: Consistency of Focus Items

First choice;
Focus = bonus to spell damage and healing. Period.

Polymorph already gets melee bonuses. Because of that, any +X weapon grants +X to poly damage, because the damage bonus is backed into the damage wheel so doesn’t otherwise get reflected on the party card. Or, we could say that only focus weapons grant poly damage bonuses. I don’t care.

If you want to say poly damage gets the greater of melee damage bonus OR focus, I’d be okay with that. Getting both has always fried my grits.

The “as is” situation as Endgame and Mike support is one that NEVER made sense to me, and I’ve always hated it.

I can say it four more times, if you like.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” While I’m not opposite consistency, I don’t think we have to be a slave to it, either.

+1 to this. No reason to errata old Tokens. And going forward I like Focus = bonus to only spell damage and healing.

The only token I would like to see changed would either be the relic/legendary Staff of Focus to add polymorph damage or the relic/legendary baton of focus to remove polymorph damage.

Either BOTH classes that can focus on polymorph should have bonuses on their Relic/Legendary weapons or NEITHER class should.

I honestly don't care which but as it stands now it's not fair.


Then again I argued this exact topic on EVERY SINGLE VERSION of the baton during design, trying for a single change to not make it superior to the staff in every single way and was ignored. So I don't expect it to change now either.


I would VERY MUCH like to see Focus be standardized going forward to give ONLY healing and spell damage. Potentially make a different suffix that covers Polymorph damage bonuses.
