Anyone have an idea why trade goods are selling for so much more now than they were a month ago? Philosopher Stone at $8? Alchemist Ink at $12 Dwarven Steel at $12?

These were going for $1, $2, and $3 just weeks ago.

Does someone have inside knowledge about a big transmute coming? Is this related to the transmute for treasure draws (has a recipe come out?)

Probably. The other choice would be people stocking up for the 2022 transmutes. But yeah, I'd assume you are on to something.

The runs in prices are really specific. Trade 2's aren't increasing at all. Philosopher stones tend to go for $1 in auctions - seeing $8+ each really screams something is going on.

Where are you seeing these prices? They've been close to historical averages in the auctions so far.

Yeah, I just looked at the last two auctions and they are nowhere near those prices. Still in the $3-4 range on the last two closed auctions.

Same question?

If you're referring to Kirk's store - he's been pretty clear his pricing is dynamic based on his inventory - not based on what things are "worth" - he adjust prices to try to always have "one of everything" in stock.

There's also a bunch of people who don't use the forums.

Might be a good time to sell some trade goods on eBay.

Both Kirk's and Trent's sites have goods from Trade 1 (both direct and consignment) shooting up.

My guess is it is a bet that the treasure map transmute will focus on MS, PS, and DS. It's speculative since I don't think recipes have been listed for those and I could see going underwater badly really quickly. If the recipe is something like 10x draws for 5 each of all treasure 1, it would be less expensive to just buy more run tickets (at 23 draws per run at $66 each, a 10x draw should be worth about $30.)

It's a curious inflation. I was wondering if I missed some big announcement for a great item that requires 100 Philosopher stones or something crazy like that. (I would support something like that happening as I have hundreds of those (and dp) collecting dust after all the VTD in the last year.)

What Matthew said. Some trade goods I'm really having trouble keeping in stock, and I need to have a supply for sale and creating transmutes. I haven't dug into it, but my theory is the token mix each year leads to some trade goods being in shorter supply some years. Then the recipes can possibly make that worse if they aren't balanced with the supply.

Alchemist's Ink is my challenge right now. If anybody has a big supply of them let me know. I can buy some and then get my price back down to something more reasonable.

On the other hand, some of my trade goods are cheaper than they have ever been.

I think Stone is going for about 4 in auctions. 3.50 or so maybe.

Ink is up to 6.

This (imo) is due to people hanging onto Revival Root and Death's Door.

The others seem in line.

If anyone is paying $12 for ink, please do let me know.

Stone is closer to 3.25 than to 4 the past few auctions and at about 2.75 for the year.

AI has definitely been climbing over 6 and trending close to 4.75 for the year.

Most other trade goods have been averaging below the historical norm, though not by a huge margin in most cases.

Might just be the yearly cycle... in preorder season trade goods are cheapest... now we're in transmuting season (it just started this month) so more people are realizing what trade goods they're short on.

Yeah, I highly doubt the Treasure Map will be worth making, but we'll see.
