TOPIC: Most Useful Scrolls for Tome of Useful Scrolls?

So, what is everyone thinking might be great candidates for the Tome of Useful Scrolls? Maybe a 2003 Scroll of Light at the start of every adventure?

Other than damage & healing, some that I might consider:

Scroll Faerie Fire: Surrounds all invisible objects and creatures with a luminescent aura, revealing their presence and location. This effect lasts for the entire room.

Scroll Mage Hand: Allows the caster to move a small object inside one room. The object must be in sight, and must not weight more than 5 pounds. The controlled object can be slowly levitated and flown around the room to any location within sight in the room.

Scroll Magic Circle: Target ally is freed from Outsider Possession and/or gains immunity from being Possessed by an Outsider for the rest of the room. This scroll does not affect Possession from any other creature type.

Scroll Mirror Image: Creates a duplicate of the caster for the duration of the time spent in the room. Whenever a monster decides to attack the reader of this scroll, the DM must roll a d20. If the result is 1-10, then the monster will attack the actual caster. If the result is 11-20, the monster will swing at the false image.

Scrolls Remove Disease, Paralysis & Curse

Scroll Speak with Dead

Scroll Stone to Flesh

My favorites:
Scroll bless
Bolster allies
Baulder’s courage
Odin blessing

The answer for each individual is the oldest they own, that is also the least available on the secondary market. Take time every now and then to re-evaluate statuses.

Probably what Aackeret said, but maybe Scroll Sunskin when you know you are being attacked to add a bit of retribution damage.

Some nice common scrolls are

Scroll Comprehend Languages
Scrolls Detect Glyph, Illusion, life, magic, poison, secret doors, undead
Scroll Feather Fall (works very well with the instant action)
Scroll Gaze Reflection
Scroll Magic Vestments

I really like that some old wooden scrolls might see some use with the Tome of Useful Scrolls.

Yeah I was definitely hoping there would not be a rarity limit on the item, so we might see a scroll of fly cast, but I guess it was not to be. Will be nice to see the older common and uncommon tokens used.

Some favorites I would recommend:
Vanish (you cannot be targeted)
Faerie fire

Mage hand
Mirror image

Dazzling Ray/Spike Growth

Problem is going to be how many antimagic areas to stop people from just completely bypassing puzzles, which defeats having tokens that don't have much use besides bypassing puzzles.

Top combat scrolls:
- Rain Shower: Entire party watches the raindrops to see when the Incorporeals have phased in/are targetable, or the puddles to see which Mirror Image is the real foe.
- Protection from Evil: +2 AC and +2 saves for the boss fight.
- Bless: Buff the party while attacking or Praying.
- Vanish: Stop one attack.

Corner/Specialty Case Combat Tokens:
- Stone Rain: If there are 10 foes, does total of 50 points of damage. Cast on low-DR foes.
- Cure Disease: Includes curing Lycanthropy.
- Faerie Fire: Reveal all invisible creatures and objects.
- Magic Circle: Remove/prevent Outsider possession.
- Remove Curse.
- Remove Paralysis.
- Stone to Flesh.
- Detect Illusions.
- Feather Fall. If you fall off a cliff, etc.
- Gaze Reflection. In case of basilisks. Bring a mirror so the basilisk sees itself.
- Instant Awakening. Cast before taking a nap mid-dungeon.

Role-playing
- Comprehend Languages: When the NPCs are gossiping...
- Detect Magic: Which one of these stones is not like the others ...
- Mage Hand: Lots of fun.

Why just the oldest? It's not like you have to commit to which token you're casting until the moment you cast it. Could easily carry a bunch of these around and look for an opportunity to use one of them
