TOPIC: BiS builds?

BiS builds? 1 year 7 months ago #1

Is there anyplace I can reference BiS builds for various classes? I’m still fairly new but as I look into moving past a mostly rare build and buying some purple/blue tokens. I’d like to focus on tokens that are going to last and not be replaced for as long as possible.

That’s a complicated question as there are a dramatic number of opinions of what constitutes best in slot. Even just picking legendary tokens isn’t guaranteed - for example, if you value AC , saves, and damage reduction, you might equip Rolland’s +6 ring of protection, a supreme ring of elemental command, and a charm of glory to equip King’s ring of supreme evasion. If you don’t care about those things, you might just equip 3 damage rings.

If you want to poke around at some maximum damage builds, I keep a bunch in my tdcc account, like this one:

You can just clone from my account if you want to play with the builds.

As well as looking at posts/build links from veteran players, you'll likely find it helpful to put a thread up in the forum for the class(es) you are building. BiS can mean different things to different people, and while there are numerous tokens available which are clearly BiS, what a full BiS build would look like is partially decided by the person building it (e.g. how high do you want your hit modifier and saves to be vs your damage bonus, if you're playing a class like Bard or Druid then what is the primary focus for your build, if you are playing something like Ranger or Rogue will it be melee or ranged, etc).

Edit: Basically, what Endgame said just before I did.
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

There's a few generalities about which tokens are evergreen, so to speak:

Treasure Enhancers will always provide treasure and generally won't be outclassed
Slot expanders are always nice because new tokens come out in Ioun Stones/Charms, so more slots lets you use them all
Slot shifters (Charm of Glory, Charm of Brooching) often provide the benefit of more limited slots (ring, back) in the place of a less limited slot (charm, which has many expanders)

Beyond that, it'd difficult to predict what may or may not be outclassed. I would recommend getting the Ring of the 5th Circle this year as part of a multi-year transmute that will finish in 2026. The recipes for the multi-year tokens is generally pretty easy: 1 of each non-GP trade good plus 1 of each of the tokens from the various years.

Other tokens that generally "hold up" may be Charms/Ioun Stones that give bonuses to saves. Things that break the rules in some way (think Gloves of Flying Fist) also are decent candidates.

Outside of that, it's difficult to give recommendations because new tokens may infringe on existing, although people try to watch out for that in the design process.

I echo the recommendations of others to consider the Guild House threads. If you post there with some information about what your build looks like now and what you're looking to accomplish (approximate budget, one class only or ability to flex to other classes) you can get more specific feedback. Good luck!
