Re: 2009 Token Details 16 years 1 month ago #25

OK guys, let's get the argument started (it's been quiet around here lately). What a fair distribution of the 8k pack if divided in 2? How about if divided in 3, or 4? To start with, let's weight the value of the components:

1. Set of onyx URs.
2. 16 PYP.
3. Set of onyx rares, uncommons, commons.
4. 9600 random tokens.

Agreed? Hmmm.... so if a full set of onyx was on one side of the table, and numbers 2 and 4 were on the other side, which would you choose? Seems to me one side is playable, the other collectable.

Considering that with #4 you'd get, on average, another 9-10 URs and a couple GT's to boot? It's a sucker's bet.
Hadn't considered the GT aspect. But I don't think it'd mean a 'couple' GTs... likely one, but not necessarily more. Actually didn't Jeff say that he's buying the entire year's tokens in one shot, so the GT's will be spread out even more?

i would ask for 1 and 3 with 2 sets of gold common-rare thrown in. this is just the collector in me though.

I'll bet someone would take you up on that. $4K for 16 PYP, 9600 random tokens (with 1-2 GT and 9-10 "00" packs) - 2 Gold sets would be a great deal, even if there weren't any proof tokens there!

I'd think the collector in you would want at least one PLAT set out of the deal, and a GT to get the exclusive GT tokens too. You could probably negotiate for some percentage of the "00" packs too.

Just a couple comments
1) Is the $5 discount at the 10 pack level to offset the fact that you dont get a PYP, could someone who needed to really watch their nickles by 10, 10 packs for $950? Or should 10 pack be $100?

2) Do you really want to promise the module at the $1K level in October knowing that right now it takes till November to get it produced. Perhaps you should say November and then if you get it done early you look even better off.

1) Yes, they could but then why would not get a PYP.

2) NEXT YEAR, we will have the process down now, so it will be developed faster....I think...at least that is the plan

You've almost got it all Jeff. I'd add in 1-2 (probably) Golden Tickets (can't forget those). And of course you have 960 PLATs and only 8640 Golds.

It occurs to me that each of the onyx rares/uncommons/commons will actually be rarer than onyx ultra-rares.... since they will only go out with 8k orders, and urs go out (one at a time, albeit) with a .5k order. However, no one will trade a purp for an onyx Skunkweed, I'm sure.

$8K wouldn't get you 2 GTs last year. With the distribution this year, odds have only gotten worse.
