Greetings! Can anyone help me clarify how exactly a few of the 2008 items work? I might note that I looked up the items in the 2008 token guide errata thread and saw some of these questions posed (or similar ones), but didn't find any answers. Apologies if they have been covered before and I missed them.<br /><br /><br />1. Ring of Wizardry<br /><br />The wording of the ring is:<br /><br />+2 to hit with spells requiring slides - double damage on a natural "20"<br /><br />The entry in the 2008 Token Guide has this to say about the item:<br /><br />This ring, usable by a Wizard only, increases a Wizard's prowess when casting a spell that requires a to hit slide to be made. This ring adds +2 to damage dealt by these spells, and any natural “20” will do double the indicated damage (and +4 more damage since the normal +2 to damage is also doubled).<br /><br />My question: Does the ring add the +2 to “to hit” slides or just damage or both?<br /><br /><br />2. Ring of Focus<br /><br />The wording of the ring is:<br /><br />+1 to healing & damage spells<br /><br />The entry in the 2008 Token Guide has this to say about the item:<br /><br />Wearing this ring adds +1 to a player's healing related (Cleric or Druid) or combat related (Wizard or Druid) spells. It does not apply to scrolls or other artifacts.<br /><br />My question: I think it is pretty clear that it adds +1 damage to a Wizard's spells. Does it also add  +1 to “to hit” slides of Wizards spells that require a slide to damage a creature?<br /><br /><br />3. Gloves of Dexterity<br /><br />The wording of the item is:<br /><br />+2 to Dexterity (+1 to hit w/missile, +1 to AC, +1 Reflex save)<br /><br />The entry in the 2008 Token Guide has this to say about the item:<br /><br />Usable by any player, these gloves, made from the supple skin of some exotic beast, increase the wearer's dexterity by two points, which will add +1 to the character's missile to-hit rolls, armor class, and reflex saves.<br /><br />My question: Do the gloves add +1 to “to hit” slides of Wizard spells that require a slide to damage a creature, such as “Ray” spells (essentially, ranged touch spells)?<br /><br /><br />Thanks in advance for the sharing of wisdom regarding these items.<br /><br />Sean<br />

<br /><br />I think that is incorrect on the gloves.  I've heard it applies to any ranged attack that requires a slide which would include spells.

That is the way I wanted it to apply.  I am not sure if Jeff agreed with me however.  I will get a ruling and post in the guide.<br /><br />Dave

Then would it apply to sliding scrolls as well as spells?<br />

<br />It should, since for sliding spells there is no Skill Check (as they are sliding instead), Dex modifiers should apply for Ray spells (so Gloves of Dex, Potions of Cats Grace).  But I am sure the updated token guide will clarify things greatly, especially if they address all the questions asked in the Token Guide feedback thread.

Do the Bracers of Archery work with Melf's Acid Arrow?  Is that already in there?  (I admit I didn't check the guide.) <br />

<br /><br />I did!  =D    <br />It does not work with spells, so no Melf's Acid Arrow.
