No, I'm not posting to advertise that I'm selling stuff on ebay. I just thought I'd mention to anyone who cares that, yes, tokens are selling there. In particular, someone is selling two Rings of Regeneration (ultra rare tokens not available in treasure kits) and the current bid is over $50.00. I was kinda hoping it wouldn't happen, but hey, it's ebay: eventually everything goes on sale there, doesn't it?

Any game with collectible pieces is bound to make its way to eBay.
I don't have any problem with it whatsover. Things have value. If the tokens were worthless they wouldn't be selling them on eBay.
I actually expected the ebay Token sales to ramp up before GenCon Indy as people stocked up for their TD runs there. I'm amazed that it's taken so long.

I'm kind of aggravated about that. While I was mulling over using the Buy it Now for that auction ($50), someone dropped the $27 opening bid. Now I'm stuck with trying to outbid the current $50 bid when I should have just dropped the $50 in the first place. :smt011

In general this doesn't annoy me (the auction for the tokens including to rings of regen looked semi tempting). However, this one did annoy me http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20924&item=5517039892&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

In the event you don't want to go there, here's the quoted text:

this is a lot for 35 true dungeon tokens, usually you get 6 tokens that you have no idea what they are and you pay 9$, so you are getting 35, and these you know what they are you will get 171 in gold this is aweome to have, you can purchase anything you want, and it makes you seem much more powerful carrying around 171 gold spells: detect magic x3(usable by all) detect undead x4 (usable by all) burning hands x2 (arcane magic) magic missle x1 (arcane magic) detect secret doors x1 (all) minor rumor x1 (all) having all these would get you through true dungeon for sure next year, and anything you had left over you could sell to people waiting in line to get in. I also can you my account info, which gives an ample amount of xp, and lets you draw 3 tokens next year. good luck bidding, shipping is 3$

As I recall, you get 9 tokens in a bag, not 6. Ignoring the over hyped common tokens and moving right along to where the jerk offers his details so that someone else can pose as him during a TD event. :smt013

I did see that one and will be forwarding it up to Jeff and Lee. I'll let them decide what to do with it (especially since they can probably trace this guy by his e-mail address in the database).

I am angered by that first one, not because it has 2 rings of regeneration (promo ONLY GIVEN to Volunteers), but because there is no way that guy got all those tokens by purchasing treasure kits...it's obvious that he was a DM pocketing tokens and now selling them on ebay. That's as good as stealing in my book.

You'll have to pry my Ring of Regeneration out of my cold dead fingers to get it away from me.

I'll hold it in high regard as a token of thanks from Jeff for a long time to come.

How does he/she have 2 to sell. That's the question I have. If it's from another DM who didn't want it, cool, but if not ,then there are some questions to be answered.

OK, I'm stepping off my ladder now. Move along.

Yeah, that rankled me too. Although I find it amusing that s/he thinks you can 'purchase anything you want' with 171 gold. You'd need to have things available to purchase in the tavern, first! Either this person didn't actually play True Dungeon, or is really clueless, or outright lying. (Or maybe just being hopeful for the next event? Hmm...)

I also don't know about the "being able to draw 3 tokens next year"... that's how they handled the bonus for being second level this year, but no one has said that's going to continue to be the way it's done. In fact, I bet that by next year, they'll have something new and improved in place. True Dungeon is growing by leaps and bounds, after all, and they DO respond to player input!

I would imagine that, that is a form of Identity Theft for Sale.
And I would imagine that Ebay does not permit that.
I don't know if any of the directors have thought about contacting ebay about letting them know that a person is selling Personal Information for the use of passing themselves off as another person. This might get the person flagged or perhaps get their ebay account frozen/locked.

My guess is that that person went to Indy. Their other Item is a autographed game they got there and have written on it Gen Con 2004.

Just a thought is all.
I can't believe someone would do that.

So does that make James Thomas an official pud?

Well, I never got any Rings of Regeneration, so it's nice to see a couple on ebay. Although having two in one auction is a bit like rubbing our noses in it. I don't know if the guy selling them was scamming tokens as a DM, which I agree is totally wrong. But it's not that outrageous an assortment (besides the two rings). I know I bought enough treasure kits to get that much stuff.

To me, it seems like people who buy $100+ in treasure kits trying to get a certain something (I'd like a magic weapon, for instance) should not be given grief for selling off all the stuff they didn't want (on ebay or anywhere else). Chances are, if I did that, I'd turn around and spend my ebay proceeds on more treasure kits, anyway.

As for the second listing, the part about transferring account info to scam the TD system makes that auction a clear violation of ebay rules. That seller could possibly be kicked off of ebay for that, if someone were to report him. And the exaggerations and flat out lies don't make him look like the most reputable seller, either. I've got nothing against buying and selling tokens on ebay, but that's going too far.
