In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Haven't played in 8 years - what did I miss?

Haven't played in 8 years - what did I miss? 10 years 10 months ago #1

A bit behind the times, although still 4th level right now. Just ordered an UR pack to get back in the game. Any tips from the years I have missed? What UR should I have ordered?

Welcome Back!

Well the tokens aren't made of wood anymore...i kid.

Most people would say Charm of Synergy or Charm of Good Fortune are the A choices...but there are many fun things...what did you order?

Medallion of Heroism would have been a good choice - 5th level is nothing to sneeze at!

Somewhat depends on the tokens you already have, too.

Remember 2012's token will be gone soon, so any of last year's best should be high on your list. Especially the universal tokens like:

Charm of Synergy
Ioun Stone: Topaz Trilliant
+2 Mithral Bracers
Charm Necklace
Ring of Evasion

Put two pairs of socks on cas we're about to knock your socks off!

It's bigger, more awesome and moved to the main convention center.

You are going to see things you will not believe.

And this is the perfect time to come back! The dragon in all her forms is finally dead!

So a brand new story arc is here for us all to enjoy.

And now go forth noble adventurer and find glory!

Heh, Brad hinted at what you really missed. Getting toasted by a dragon repeatedly. ;)
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

I got a Medallion of Heroism, but I wonder now if it isn't a mistake. Is a level really worth 3 slots? And I looked at the transmutation cost afterward - there is no way I am getting those components together. I wonder if I should email and ask for a different one.

I have some reds left from years back, but I sold most of the reds and all of my purps.

So how does level in the game work now? Everyone starts at 4? What about the folk that are already 5 and above?

Out of game and in game levels are not related. Out of game levels get you out of game perks. In game everyone is either 4th or 5th. The 5th level in game gets better base stats and some new or improved abilities. All the 4th and 5th level cards are on the website so you can compare them and see whether you think it is worth 3 slots.

Thanks!

On the other hand, one of the reasons I stopped playing was to get away from the competitive token collection thing, so not worrying about 3 slots might be just fine in the future. I am not planning to play nightmare or anything anymore. It would be fun to have just enough to jump into a standard game in the future and just have fun. At the time I quit I was tied for first (along with about 7 other people if I remember correctly), and trying to gear up to play every round of nightmare offered just doesn't seem like a lot of fun to me anymore.

Are common and uncommon wood tokens worth anything nowadays? I still have a ton of those.

Welcome back! ...and the Medallion of Heroism is actually a pretty decent choice - but I see you have the link to the character cards, that is the best suggestion - look at 4th vs 5th level characters and made that call with all the chips down. :)

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!
