Listening to the CD on the way home from True Realm got me thinking that it might be interesting to give people a chance to tell some of their favorite TD stories. I am guessing that everyone involved with the podcast will be too extremely busy at GenCon to set up the equipment and capture stories but, maybe at True Realm next year?
David

I wanted to pick up one of the cd's but never got the chance.
Its funny how something that takes multiple days to set up comes down in a few hours...

I still have a few left. I will likely make a few more for GenCon if there is enough demand.

Dave

I gotta tell about "The Scream".

WARNING!!!! Although I don't think anything from the DC dungeon will be at GenCon, I am going to talk about my room...
<obligatory white space>

</obligatory white space>

So, Raven came through DC with some friends, and one of them got taken by the mind flayer. I was in the mind flayer room and on a bubble, so we were sitting back stage talking to her about what she needs to do - "When you hear me say 'But wait!', go through the curtain and kneel. When you hear me say 'Beware', scream like your brains are being sucked out." Then I told her that Raven would really love it if she would scream bloody murder and the woman said she had a good scream. I asked if she could scream so that they could hear her at the admin desk, and she said she could definitely do that. Then I said if she screamed so loud that it brought Jeff running asking what was wrong, I'd give her a token or money or something.

So, the rest of the party comes into the room and right on cue the woman lets out this blood curdling scream - right from the horror movies. It was awesome! I heard that other players in other rooms got a little shook up from it, which was what I was after. And her scream did not bring Jeff running, but Todd came back and asked if everything was all right. That was close enough for me! The next time I ran into her, I gave her a token from the 2009 set. :)

If it's the scream I'm thinking of, it was a good scream for a guy!

Come to think of it I think there could be a whole podcast devoted to stories about Raven in TD. =D Dave already shared the one. Our group probably has a dozen. I got one from True Realm. While DMing the last room of Retro and she was doing her solo run I hide a puzzle piece in the rogue chest. She figured out where it was and quickly opened the box. She was also the quickest person to destroy the monster in that room. That was after Jason snuck up from behind and scared her. :lol:
David

Last year we set up outside the event and tried to interview people, we will have to announce it better next time.

It was how we managed to snag an interview with Dave Arneson. So I would love to have the opportunity to interview more players and volunteers, but you are correct in that trying to find a segment of time to do it is a bit difficult...

Dave
Do I need the obligatory white space? WARNING!!! Spoiler alert!!!
<obligatory white space>

</obligatory white space>
Another Raven story...On a different run when she was going through my room, she was playing the Barbarian. When it came time to fight the mind flayer, Raven says "Grog hit Paladin" meaning she wanting to attack the player that had been stolen by the mind flayer. I thought she was joking and ignored it. Then when tallying up the damage, I notice that she was using her melee weapon. I said "You can't throw your Mithril Sword" and Raven says "GROG....HIT...PALADIN!" So I gave the Paladin the damage.

Of course, the party dispatched the mind flayer quickly - it was an easy monster in normal mode. Then the party healed the Paladin, and Raven spent the room going "Grog sorry!" to the Paladin. Then she gave him 250GP for his troubles.

It's great when people role play as they come through instead of just trudge through the puzzles and the combats. It's what makes an otherwise repetitive job really fun!

Raven is a class act - I didn't get to go on any TR runs with her, unfortunately.
