A Season of Thanksgiving - ACS Benefit Auction

Thanksgiving each year reminds me of my most amazing single working mother who lost her battle with cancer at the age of 58. Thanksgiving was her most joyous and celebrated holiday. Our house was filled with love and cheer each year as she hosted a big party for all of her friends. She would provide a huge meal and give gifts to all who attended. She would also give her time to help those in need over the holiday weekend. There is not a Thanksgiving that goes by where I don’t endeavor to honor her memory on this special day.

2021 brought me into a new family of friends with True Dungeon. I can’t help but think it would please her to see us rally around a cause for this season. So in honor of my mother, as well as those who we all have lost to this terrible disease, I am holding an $8k benefit auction to raise funds to donate to the American Cancer Society.

In my own typical model I’m auctioning off everything found in a CONDENSED order. Since it’s a condensed order I will not ask TD to remove the random URs from the bags and I will not take the 9th or 10th. (To the lucky winner go the spoils).

I’m not going to rush this one as it’s a benefit but will need it to end in time to get the November goodies so let’s end the auction on Tuesday, November 30th at 2:00pm EST.

This benefit auction must reach $8000 to fund, BUT for every $100 of the total amount of winning bids pledged, my family will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society. ALSO 100% of all funds above $8000 raised will go to the ACS. Even if we don’t fund, I am committed to donating to the ACS the 5% of whatever is pledged as a way of honoring your efforts.

Remember, this is a charity benefit so consider bidding higher than you otherwise might.

Auction Rules

In order for the auction to be successful, the grand total of all bids must meet or exceed $8,000. If the auction fails to meet the minimum, I may choose to go forward and fund the remaining balance or call the whole thing off depending on how close it is.

How bidding works:

◦ Bids should be sent to me via PM
- You may bid on as many packages as you wish
◦ The winning bid is the lesser of the 2nd highest bid + the bid increment and the highest bid.
◦ You must bid at least the current bid + the bid increment.
◦ Bid increment on all items is $5.

Once your bid is received I will send you a PM confirming it with your Gooey Cube NPC themed moniker. I will regularly update the auction with currently winning bids, as work and life allows. But at minimum, daily, unless extenuating circumstances prevent it.

If multiple bidders bid the same amount, the earliest bids win..

This auction will end at the specified date and time listed below.

Any ties will be resolved by whichever tying bidder submitted their very first bid as the winner.

Bidding ends on Tuesday, November 30th at 2:00pm EST. however:

◦ If there are technical difficulties with TD forums (or elsewhere) within 1 hour of the end auction time all open items will be extended 1 hour, open to all bidders.
- NOTE: There will be no 24 hour extension for this auction.

Payment is required through PayPal via friends and family. All winning bids will have 48 hours after the close of auction to provide payment. If there are any unpaid item(s), after the allowed time, the bidder will forfeit their items and I will pay the residual and keep the items myself.

Shipping (domestic):

◦ $20 (Each package will require at least a medium sized box)

International shipping will be the actual cost.

Apologies for not updating this on Saturday. I was traveling all day (drove for 9 hours) and didn't have access to a computer. But now we are back on track!

We have gone over 50% funded for this benefit! Thank you all for your participation. Since we are post holiday I'd love to see if some others would like to jump in and bid. Seriously, if you are considering a 1k order THIS would be one of the best deals you would find. If anything, just help us raise more funds to donate to the ACS.

We are up to $220 raised just from bids. As I stated in the rules, regardless of if this auction funds or not, my family will be donating 5% of all bids up to the $8000 funding total plus ALL money over the funding total. So dig deep and see if you can score a deal and see it go to a good cause.

We have a little over 24 hours left to see this funded before the November goodies expire. You all are doing great things with this!! Let's do some math shall we?

Currently the Patron Pin+ Package sits at $1255

If the auction were funded and ended with that package where it stands now (which you all would agree that it's a steal as it sits right now) then the other 7 packages (all worth well over $1000) would each be able to sell for ONLY $965!!! Imagine getting all the goodies of a 1K, plus some great 8K bonus items, (cough, Wish Ring...Orb...cough) for only $965!!!

Plus, let's not forget how much this would benefit the American Cancer Society.

It's a great investment on multiple levels. Let's see it through.

I think the mechanics of how I designed this auction sunk it with it being both big ticket items coupled with condensed and not super condensed. It was an experiment and you never know unless you try, right? As a result, keep you eye out for a repeat of this benefit auction, super condensed, that will run from now until the end of the year.
