TOPIC: Thanksgiving ACS $8k benefit auction, What kind would you like to see?

I'm about to launch my annual Thanksgiving American Cancer Society benefit auction (waiting for Flik's to fund) where I auction off "everything" including the random URs. I will use the bid total to fund the auction and then myself donate 5% of the total funds raised to the ACS. Anything over $8000 will be given 100% to the ACS. I will also work to get a matching doner to boost this to 10%+ as we did last year. And, we will solicit token additions from friends of TD to donate at 100% proceeds to the ACS, TBA as the auction progresses.

Question for the TDverse... Should we do an Onyx auction or a regular super condensed 8K? Or should we do an Ultra condensed with 10x chips? What say you?

My vote would be for Onyx and I'd love it if someone else did a bid for a chance at the golden ticket if there is one, Or if there is a golden ticket hold a separate auction going towards the same or different charity.

Here is a crazy idea…do you think people would support a completely open auction with this benefit auction? All forum names and bids shown in a real-time view of the auction as if it were live and people could see who was bidding and how much the current bid was? We would not do blind bidding just let people set the current bid level and see if others will outbid them? It would have bid increments as usual. Give me honest feedback on this. I’d like to know as we do want to give back but since it’s a benefit we’d want to have a bit more transparency I assume.

I think.onyx tends to slow done pretty quickly, and people would rather have their UR of choice (bead or shirt most likely)

That said,, I think this community is so awesome you'll fund regardless.
