TOPIC: Four runs done...

Four runs done... 6 years 9 months ago #1

Four to go!

All four of my Thursday runs were mostly with awesome gamers who had either never played before or had played once. There were two other "veterans" and an up and coming seasoned player who has got token envy pretty bad.

One hardcore run and three normal runs, and only one of them had ten players. I had a group of four run through and do an amazing job solving puzzles and fighting monsters! However the runs wouldn't have been as much fun as they were if it weren't for the incredible volunteers! Kudos to all giving their time at Origins to make this a successful con run!

Four runs to go on Friday. Looking forward to introducing more newbies to the game!

As one of the other veteran players it was great to run with you a couple of times yesterday. I also completed four runs and ran with other veterans in my last two runs. Let's just say that we are an interesting group of people. Personally, I have equal amounts of fun running with newbies or vets. The veteran players tend to get a little creative in the dungeons and look for ways to challenge themselves (and sometimes the DMs - in a good way). But I also love the wonder of newbies as they experience the game for the first or even the second time.

All in all I think TD is putting on a good show. The biggest problem to date has just been the Origins registration system. Hopefully, they'll figure that out. I love the new slider that made an appearance later in the day. And while there are no completion tokens available at Origins, I was more than happy that they replaced it with an extra treasure token.

I just want to echo Hawk's sentiments in regards to the volunteers. They are incredible. Four more runs today.

Wish I could be there.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Oh yeah, the new sliders are SWEET!

If a chip gets knocked out of those pucks, then the person must have thrown it like a baseball. No need for glow tape on my weapons now.

To be honest, if TD continues to run at Origins, there will be a while new con community building up here. All the newbies I played with said they thought is was amazing and would love to play again now that they've had the chance to see what it offers.

Sure, small groups right now but that will change pretty quickly if they come back.

Treasure boxes have the 2016 mix, will the ten token bags are 2017, so some foreshadowing there for what is to come next year or at Gen Con, while still offering the previous set to people. I really like that.

Are they in use in all the rooms now?

Perhaps, but sliding a glowing weapon sure looks cool! B)

One would assume (since I too wish I could be there) that they are using the magnetic sliders Master Ed created. They are amazing, and hold the tokens very well.

The new sliders are in all combat rooms and the training rooms. Nothing but praise heard so far.

The color coding and grip are also fantastic. They have some thick heft to them too. Super cool. B)
