Your fellow humans can be the worst monsters...

Jackis anyone?
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Very excited to hear that Pat has been involved with the Underthing module. Really looking forward to it.

As for replaying modules, I don’t mind fighting the same monsters more than once. Things do change—winning or losing initiative, making or failing a saving throw, doing it on a different difficulty level, or with different party members. Not to mention that no matter how much my party tries to anticipate things (hmm, a swamp—I bet there’s a room where free movement will help!), sometimes we guess wrong or we can’t equip the token that would have been helpful because something else is competing for the slot. Playing again is a chance to do things differently.

Pat, as before in 2017, has been a big help on crafting this adventure. I never told anyone, but the poem that Felurian recites in Room One of Moongate Maze was written by Pat...so that is pretty cool of him.

There are no strictly-defined monsters in the Underthing...but things can happen. I had lots of help from Pat on this.

My imagination understood that Ari only knows a small part of the Underthing AND in my imagination, It was this entire city/civilization that was covered much like other apocalyptic movies in which entire civilizations are lost only to be rediscovered in the movie.
So who knows what may be lurking in the Underthing.

I expect quiet tea parties where we exchange gifts and play naming games.

No?
Friendly neighbourhood NPC. Do not rob, maim or kill. Else you take 50 points of irresistible damage and I come back to betray you in the next room.

Of course, the most "terrible" creature encountered there would be Auri herself. I don't know how many people caught just how crazy powerful she is. If you re-read "Slow Regard For Silent Things" it is pretty clear that Auri knows the name of the world and can shape it however she wishes (she willed the candle into existence, for example).
"And all things shook. And all things knew [Auri''s] will. And all things bent to please her."

She is only kept in check by her fear of the damage done if she makes changes that are too big (likely foreshadowing to something in the next book revealing more about her and what happened when she was assaulted.)

I could see an interesting possibility for an NPC interaction where she is startled away and the party might have the option of cornering her or fighting her (terrible idea). I could see anyone choosing to fight her being handed a small card saying, "Auri wished for you to not be around so you aren't. Your ghost may accompany the party to the exit."
What do we want? Evidence based science! When do we want it? After peer review!

I can't wait to see what you guys came up with. I am excited to hear that you collaborated with the author on this.

You might be on to something here. One of the main ingredients for soap was tallow so we would have to kill a fatty creature to get the fat to render into tallow,
