Way the elected leaders in Wisconsin has been running things, not overly surprised. Very strict. GHC should have been fine by then.

Will miss seeing all at the conventions, but it is what it is.

It is far from certain things would have been fine. We won't be at even a potential vaccine until early next year (and that would be far faster than has ever happened before.) Herd immunity won't work. How is your total immunity to the common cold coming along? The common cold is a coronavirus. You develop resistance to a particular strain which then fades in 3-6 months. Meanwhile, the virus mutates into something your system can't recognize.

The reality is we're facing a long term problem with this that will require a vaccine then annual or semi-annual boosters until we see a revolution in medicine.

With the re-openings, cases are spiking heavily.

I want to game as well but it's not realistic this year. I am only holding onto my Origins registration in the hope of a miracle.

Where are you seeing these? Most states, at least for right now, seem to be flat in terms of new cases and deaths.

I certainly think it's possible that more new cases will come.

Some of the earliest reopening states have muddled their data reporting, so it’s hard to judge.

This was a few days ago - more recent data may be available. Places like Florida, Georgia, and Texas are seeing the biggest spikes in cases (all were opening too soon.) It will be another week before we see any profound data nationwide about the reopening.

It looks like CNN has a story about it today. 18 states are showing spiking case growth, 22 are remaining the same, and 10 are declining. The key differences are how often masks are being used and how much testing is being done.

here is something to ponder and I hope I don't botch it.

we are having all these death's from covid-19, but after talking with several morticians, i'm not so sure. they tell me that their workload is about the same. I am beginning to wonder if the number of deaths isn't getting some help from misdiagnosis. please add whatever conspiracy you like.

please understand I am not downplaying the health risks. it is bad stuff.

My first response to that is, unless you're talking to morticians across a wide sampling of the country, you might be getting a distorted view. We do know that there are regional "hot spots" across the country.

In addition, with people staying home more, I would imagine that the number of traumatic deaths is lower than it otherwise would have been (car accidents, etc) which could be a potential causative factor.

This is really getting depressing. When sports were cancelled, it was jarring at first, but now doesn't phase me. When eating out was stopped, it was a bummer, but eating in has saved money. When concerts were cancelled, I am still struggling with that, but this no gaming thing is really starting to wear on me.

Fred,
I don't know where you are getting your numbers about Texas but we are down for the 4th straight day. We are one of the lower numbers when it is calculated by total population.

Here are graphs for Dallas county showing risk level monitoring.

www.dallascounty.org/departments/dchhs/2019-novel-coronavirus/monitoring-data.php

Thru May 22nd it has not shown a decrease and why stay at home recommendation thru June 12th.

The data does vary wildly by county.
