TOPIC: How to play a level 5 character?

How to play a level 5 character? 1 year 7 months ago #13

Chiming in to add that I answered the question asked (how to get to level 5), but I totally agree that it is entirely up to you if you want to play at level 4 or level 5. If you think level 5 would be fun, go for it. But please don't feel bad if you stick with level 4. Playing one of each run a year at Gen Con with the tokens you get from the 10-packs and treasure draws over time is totally valid. Playing as a level 4 character on a normal run is totally valid--that's the default!

As others have said, if you'd like to try playing as a level 5 character, joining a VTD LFM (Looking for More) run where the organizer has offered to loan tokens to players who might not have their own fancy builds could be an option. Even if VTD ultimately isn't something you want to do regularly, it could give you the opportunity to decide if a level 5 character/playing on hardcore or nightmare is sufficiently fun to invest in something like a Cook's Hat or Ring of Fateful Heroism.

And definitely consider checking the forums before your next in-person run. You might be able to work out things like your class and difficulty level before the con, or even arrange to borrow some tokens from someone else who will be on the run.
