Leonard Wei wrote: Hi everybody,

This will be my first time volunteering with TD. I have all day shifts, so I'd love to join, but I'm not certain that my character can handle NM. I'm going to be borrowing some tokens from friends, so I have a monk that looks like this:

I also can't guarantee that my slides will be any good.

Hi Leonard, welcome to the forums, this run and the insane asylum great group that is the TD volunteer corps!

I've sent you a PM regarding payment and ticket transfers.

As far as your build goes, you're actually fairly close as-is. Depending on how well you slide, your to-hit might be a little low, especially if we don't have a bard or cleric. I first thought your HP total was on the low side as well, but then I realized it was only counting one synergy. In this group, I'd guess we'll have at least 30 charms, so you'll be getting the full 10HP.

I do have a few things I can loan you, if you're interested.
  • I'd suggest dropping the trickster's cap. You need an AC of 30 or so before it starts to matter on Nightmare, so the +2 saves you get back for not equipping it are probably more useful. I have a Crown of Iron Will to replace if if you want
  • I have a +1 Cestus and a Brawler's Horn for +2 to hit, and it opens up the bracer slot for a Bracers of Lightning to offset the lower damage wheels
  • An Icecrag Hero's Earcuff to replace the ale master for +1HP, +1 fort and +1 regen per room
  • Gauntlets of Ogre Power + Belt of Ogre Mage Power for net 0 strength but no self-damage, freeing the shirt for my Shirt of Blessed Strength
  • Ring of Fateful Heroism (Matt might have a proper Ring of Heroism instead). This gets a little tricky. It takes both ring slots and -1 saves for +1 level, but the level gets you +2 strength and a good chunk of HP. It also gets you poison immunity, so you can go back to the midgard serpent, and borrow my Girdle of Stone Giant Strength for net +2 strength in addition to the level.

Thanks for all the help and glad to join.

I can swap in crown of iron will from my own collection.
Will definitely take the weapon + bracer upgrade.
In terms of extra strength and the level -- I think it's worth it if you are willing to lend the tokens.
If someone has a charm of heroism, that would be even more ideal, but I assume that's much harder to come by.

I actually do have a charm I can lend you, as well as a charming set, so there's options.

Yes, preferably put me down as THE druid.

I could probably make an entire group 5th level. I will use my eldritch items, but I also have a charm, 3 rings, a couple Might sets, and a couple Charming sets. I still have a Medallion of Heroism in my trade book too.

I can make almost any class NM ready, so we will be Okay. I am not always comfortable loaning UR+ weapons to strangers, but I have in the past. I do also have extra whetstones and 2 extra sets of nuggets if needed.

Have you played this module before?

No sure about 30 charms... I mean i have 1 charm vs others who have 10 packs...

I've got extra RoH's/Icecrags/Lucky traveler beads. Also have Gloves of Flying Fists if you want to borrow them Leonard.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Well.. I know I have 10, and I assume that Harlax, as a flag-waving member of Team Synergy, has 10, and another 10 from the rest of the group didn't seem impossible.

I only have 4 :). Actually 2 CoAS and 2 CoS and one CoAwareness.

My goal is to fly with the absolute minimum number of tokens. On Tuesday I have to fly to Tampa for business and then home on Saturday. 4 TSA encounters will be a barrel of laughs I’m sure.

I played it once at gencon. I don't know how every room works, but can follow directions pretty well.

My concern was that we not spoil it for you if you had not played it before.

We won’t have full Synergy or full treasure if we don’t get a full group or ghost the remaining slots.

I’m going to bring my Fighter/Dwarf/Paladin build. And a blessed Redoubt mail in case I need to switch to Barbarian. But if Druid is our only healer, I’ll probably go Paladin, just for the lay on hands.

Which brings up the question of what to do with the other four tickets I have for this run. There's a few options:
  • Find more people. This is my preferred option, and I'll be asking around during build on Thursday if anyone else wants to join.
  • Ghost them. I can take one, which leaves three for others who are willing to take them.
  • Return them now, and take our chances on who picks them up. Not my favorite option
  • Return them at the last minute, hoping nobody grabs them. This seems really sleazy, and is my least favorite option
