This is I think a great point - often in TD I'm a little bit lost as to what the overall story of set of modules is, VTD in general and V7 in particular did a great job of laying out a villain, an inciting incident, possibly some NPCs for the future, etc..

I think by the end of V7 it did. At the start though really we were just attempting to make our way to the docks to stop an unknown threat to a city that we didn't really know.

There was a definite joy in blasting the cube with an AOE, getting absolutely decimated, and then immediately doing it again the same turn to obliterate the last vestiges of HP I had.

It definitely took some planning, but I managed to get all three spells off before I was blasted apart :laugh:

Most of my thoughts on V7 mirror a lot of what's been said. My biggest issue was that which many have already mentioned: the sound bleed of the NPCs. It was very hard to hear the NPCs, although our DM made a joke about it, so that helped. To that point, our DM was great (I think his name was James? I told myself to remember, then forgot...he had a funny foreground on Zoom that made him look like he was peeking out at us behind a dragon's hoard). Perhaps it's because we ran on Sun afternoon, but he made the dice roller pretty smooth and narrated each of our hits (and misses, which were very funny...I mean, if you're attacking with a turkey leg, a miss lends itself perfectly to being distracted by deliciousness). I only have two VTDs under my belt, but I much preferred this roller to the other...way quicker. Nothing beats sliding in person, though, in my opinion.

As for Plunder, I'm in the middle. It was still kind of fun, despite all the negatives. However, after it was over, I realized my biggest disappointment with it lies in the feeling that I missed out on a clever puzzle. Some of the rooms I've enjoyed most in TD are those with amazing puzzles that take teamwork and creativity...yeah, I suppose there're some tactics/strategy in Plunder, but still. I enjoyed it for what it was (it really did fit in with the theme), but I hope it doesn't come back.

Finally, my team helped out the beggar, which I was glad we did. Now that I think of it, as the whole city is burning to the ground, this dude is begging for money? That's some dedicated panhandling. I suppose he earned it.

All that said, the best thing - as usual - were the volunteers. The DM, the NPCs, the seamless golem, Andrew at epilogue, and everyone behind the scenes (loved the sets!!), thank you for your time and talent so we can pretend to kill pirates and steal their loot!
Angroch - Ranger of the Frozen Woods;
Mo'Tak, Monk of The Confused Fist;
Bolo KneeSmasher, Halfling Barbarian

Had a great time, particularly on a passifist run. Everything was great, dice roller puts VTD over the top, it's extremely fun to see rolls and hear the dm narrative. Now I'd like to see HP tracking this way too!

My only criticism is that when we donated I have no idea what it did, like did we goto another room, did it change something? A full treasure broken per player is a high cost of it didn't end up changing anything (although I suspect things may become clear when we get our treasure maybe...?)

Oh wait, also plunder needed a change... Like taking a turn to turn around or something... something to break a stalemate. My kids completely zoned out on it, it was likely fun for one or two people in the party, it's not a ten player activity.
