Ahhh I see we are having a naming difference. TIL In North America turtle is often meant to mean both sea turtles and land tortoises. Britain draws a distinction between the two. Australia which doesn't have tortoises uses tortoise for sea turtles. So I will withdraw my question as I am guessing Rybak is not drawing a distinction between turtles and tortoises.

Rybak was not drawing a distinction. He does not discriminate with what he kills and eats. HA!

It was never alive. It was just a carving. I know Dwarves sometimes eat rocks, but you didn't actually kill anything ;)

Francis was alive in our adventure. He even helped start one of the puzzles for us.

I wonder if turtle and tortoise taste similar. I was hoping to try turtle at a Cambodian BBQ place (in Cambodia) a few years back, but they had none that day. The kangaroo was fine and I really liked the ostrich meat.

I did something similar at a sushi place in Tokyo:
Octopus good.
Squid good.
Cuttlefish terrible.

Horse was interesting.

The small (20K ppl) city I used to live in back in Illinois had a place with ostrich on the menu. Apparently there was a farm in the area. Agree that it was tasty stuff!
