If they did that after announcing they would require it before ticket sales started, I suspect they would have to be ready to offer refunds. I've spoken to plenty of people who have stated that's the only reason they're returning this year (myself and multiple friends I normally attend with among them).

You do bring up a good point. I'm committed to going either way but admit that I do feel much better with restrictions in place. Would i still go if they changed their policy? Yes, but I would be upset if they did so.

the big boss forgot to add ....If you don't get what you want remember we still need volunteers. grab 3 friends all volunteer and get free Room, badge and sweet swag

Applied, I just really hope I get a place. Although, I was somewhat...concerned...when the TD volunteer signup form asked for detailed bodily measurements and how I felt about wearing latex
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

1:44 is my time, one of my friends go 1:48 so I think they are letting groups in closer together than in the past.

The precautions definitely make sense given the current conditions, it could be much better or much worse or anywhere in between come August. Only the best divination spells can tell which that will be. So better to be on the safe side.

Don't worry. Those questions were snuck in by Druegar. Jeff keeps shutting down his "dungeon" suggestions though, so you are safe.

Unless something notable changes, I don't plan on going to Gen Con this year because of all of the BS to deal with. And I've been attending the con since it was a small regional at the University of Milwaukee back in the early 80's.
Really, REALLY wish there was a way to convince Jeff to set up at Origins.

They do say "We currently plan to implement the same mask-wearing requirements as last year at Gen Con Indy", so they definitely left the possibility that the mask policy might change. I won't be surprised if it does, as mask mandates seem to be going away in many places right now. I'll leave discussion of whether the mask mandate should go away for a different thread. :)

Things are always open to change, but they seem to be moving ahead at full speed with planned restrictions.

True Dungeon has set up at Origins previously, GAMA is a notoriously incompetent organization from the average attendee side. Can't imagine it any better for exhibitors. Origins this year I note is the week before SKull Con this year. Also note that Origins is requiring masks and such similar to Gen Con this year.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Less than an hour to go, good luck everyone! The best time for the three of us sharing a room is 1:30, so I suspect we'll be using my backup Embassy room, but fingers crossed an Embassy Block room survives that long. Two of my friends (a married couple) got the awesome 12:06 time, but it will go to waste since they decided not to attend because of COVID restrictions.

Just posted by Gencon on Facebook...

Due to unexpected turnout, the Gen Con 2022 attendee room block has sold out. Over the coming days and weeks we’ll be procuring supplemental inventory and making it available for booking on a first-come first served basis. If you were unable to obtain a hotel room on opening day or are looking to change your assigned hotel or room type, please check back periodically as inventory will become available through supply additions and booking cancellations.

Thank you for your attention and patience.
