A set bonus that the majority of Paladins won't be equipping the other pieces for. Paladins don't have a Legendary neck so their only options are going to be the new legendary or charm necklace. Honestly, I can see the majority of paladin's just skipping this ring and the amulet all together and not guarding 2 targets anymore since the design has been to just be attack everyone anyway and bypass guard. At least if the ring allowed both powers some people would consider it.

I can say as a Paladin and having the Amulet of Guarding, I would not switch to the Ring as is. With plus 2 damage and the Garding ability it would for sure be a consideration.

With the earcuff of greater glory coming online, I would almost certainly switch.

Q. Can Earcuff of Murmurs be used with Charm
of Spell Storing or Ring of Spell Storing?
A. Yes

Please expand on this answer. Are you saying that even though the Earcuff and the CoSSt both use a Free Action, somehow I can do them both in the same round anyhow? If so, does the Earcuff use my Standard action instead? (for the record, my guess is you're saying something completely different from this, but that's why it needs to be clearer)

I was very happy to see this token, since I am new-ish to the game. My son's Paladin doesn't have the Amulet, and I am not likely to spend $146 on one (current Trent pricing). I like that I can keep the Amulet of Folkvangr on his build and use the Ring with the EGG that I'm making for him this year.

The fact that it also has a Dax host name probably doesn't hurt either 😜

LOLOL, I didn't even THINK about that. Tobin would definitely play a Paladin. He would relish the opportunity to be a knight in shining armor.

Or.... OR.... Hear me out.... it could just do both +2 damage and allow a second guard target....

1 UR for the Relic
2 UR for the Legendary

Not 6! Unless we are seeing some type of Shrinkflation with TD to combat tarriff's. I was all about making Smith's Charm, but otherwise I'm not so sure if 6 UR's are required.

It seems like you're basing your numbers for UR ingredients off recent Legendary / Relic transmutes.

The Relic Charm of Awakened Synergy was unique in requiring 2 URs to make a relic.

I'm not saying the recipes are correct / perfect now - I'm just noting that Charm of Awakened Synergy has a higher UR cost than typical Relics. So I don't think it's necessarily the case that the new synergy relic, and a new synergy legendary would have the same UR cost than other relics / legendries.

Kusig wrote: Q. If a Paladin equips a Tobin's Cosmic Ring, do
they have to pick between damage and an
additional Guard?
Yes. They cannot get both powers

The ring should allow Paladins to get both powers. Without both I doubt it takes over the slot from other rings. We'd probably be better off just getting an Amulet of Guarding reprint than this ring.

Can you say more about that?

It seems like if a Paladin wants the 2nd guard ability a choice between starting with:

A. Ability to guard 2 people and 2 ring slots. (Via Amulet of Guarding)

B. Ability to guard 2 people and 1 Neck and 1 ring slot. (Via Tobin's)

I'd have thought B is the more appealing option - especially with the Necklace of Baubles being printed this year and tokendb.com/token/earcuff-of-greater-glory/ making Ring slots a bit more flexible.

I'm pretty sure this just means you are allowed to equip both Earcuff of Murmurs and one or the other of Charm of Spell Storing or Ring of Spell Storing.

The Charm of Spell Storing and Ring of Spell Storing are mutually incompatible, their tokendb entries say:

Charm: "The wearer of this charm cannot equip a Ring of Spell Storing."
Ring: "The wearer of this ring cannot equip a Charm of Spell Storing."

The Earcuff of Murmurs can be used in coordination with one or the other of these, I think.

The 2027 set has a lot of tokens with downsides. 45/167 or about 26% have a downside. 2026 had 7/156, and three were part of a set that would negate the penalty. I understand that all the masks will have a drawback, but I would look at all the other tokens and see if they really need them. An example is the Boots of the Plague. If anyone has been playing for a few years they will probably have Deathward Greaves which completely negates the poison damage they would take from the Boots. I would drop the damage to 5 and get rid of the drawback so that it's like the Boots of the East Wind, just a different damage type.

TD has had high and low drawback token years before.

2018, in the Bliss, had about 15 drawback items.

It seems to be related to the theme of the setting.

I don't remember any problems from the 2018 set, but maybe coaches / players who can remember back that far can weigh in?
