Piper Bill Millin passes away at age 88.

To sum up, he went ashore at D-Day carrying only a dirk and his bagpipes. And as the battle went on he marched up and down the beach playing his pipes. I find that impressive.

Sounds like a real hero from a bygone day. I lost an uncle in Patton's assault on Anzio. Another uncle fought in a bloody battle in New Guinea, and another uncle was thrown in the brig for insulting an officer on Guam. He was a combat photographer and the officer took all his photos. Oh well.

That really bums me out.
Seems odd that I remember seeing all the really old guys who were the WWI vets, and now I think only one is still with us. Now its the WWII guys who we are losing.
God Bless them.

God rest his brave soul.

I hadn't heard of him but that is amazing. Today the enemy would target him but back then the world had more honor. Just like in WWII the red cross was not shot at but in Korea and from then on it was, is, a bullseye.
