Let's tell/write a story. I thought this idea might be fun and perhaps it will help us through the long cold winter ahead.

Any forumite can join in whenever they feel like it by adding one sentence to the existing lines.
Always allow at least one person to post before you post again, but post often if you like.
Please keep this a clean and morally acceptable story for all audiences.
After a while we can revise it and clean up the interesting story ideas as a group project.
Any other ideas or comments?

How about this for a start?

I saw her silhouette in the sunlit tavern doorway, so I sat my tankard down to clear my hands.

As I did, I pondered but for a mere second, Is that the tarven Wench or the Villanous Leader of the Assasssin's Guild?

"Only one way to find out," I mutter as I slowly rise from my repast and advance on my next refreshment.

By mere chance, as I made my way through the crowd, I happened to glance at the oddly carved and disturbingly angled wooden frieze that adorned the doorframe.
I had felt the Eldritch energy and seen the archaic runes around the doorframe as I entered, this could get very interesting.

As I approached, she moved forward into the doorway, still cloaked in shadow. The runes on the doorframe started glowing brightly, and her silhouette began to shift and grow, taking on a distinctly reptilian form.

Magical energies passed through the tavern like a whisper, but it didn't feel like fear.
Shapeshifting reptiles and Eldritch magic were way out of my league; I ducked behind the sturdy bar.

Grabbed the wand of disintegration I found there, jumped back up and turned her into a pile of dust.

And that is when I woke up: cold, alone, and weaponless in an Ara'hzag prison cell...again.

I cautiously sat up as I looked around. I had only one companion; I had never seen anything like it before.
