TOPIC: A request for the International Travelers

A request for the International Travelers 9 years 9 months ago #1

I thought I might prevail upon our international TDers to help me out with something. I am looking for a specific item that unfortunately is only being offered for sale outside the USA.

I am a Bourbon aficionado and one of my favorites is Blanton's. While I can get the regular version here in the states I cannot get the Straight From The Barrel edition. It seems to only be available from Europe, Australia and duty free shops in LARGE airports.

If someone happens to see a bottle before they leave their native land and come to Gencon contact me please. I'll make it worth your while in cash and/or tokens. Whatever you choose for reimbursement + bonus.

I'll have a look but should I be worried it reminds me of a hand grenade?

CDSmith, might want to give them an idea of what this might cost - is it a hundred dollar a pint item? Of course, maybe you don't know since you've never seen it for sale... :)

And Brad, that's obviously an Alchemist's Fire.

Yep, the web sites have it at high prices. A few that have it in stock in the UK have the price at around $120 to $140 a bottle but then I have to add international shipping. With a corked bottle that is a really hit or miss thing. Would end up being about $200 by the time I was done with it all.

I would much rather reimburse a TD brother or sister for the cost plus a nice bounty than risk a bottle to the shipping gods.

Yes, I love the bottle also. The bourbon inside (the regular type) is one of the best I have ever tasted and I have tasted a lot of bourbon. It was the Bourbon that turned MikeB into a bourbon drinker at atstepchilds bachelor party. He is a scotch drinker and you know how hard it is to get a scotch drinker to like anything other than scotch!

It is kind of strange. A bottle of Blanton's regular lasts me about 6 months. As my drinking has reduced to almost zero I find that I appreciate the quality of what I drink far more.

I should have put in the OP what it costs! Sorry about that folks. I have seen it anywhere form $120 to $140 US on European web sites. I'm willing to go to $200 US for a bottle of the Straight From The Barrel if someone can find it.

Not only that, I am also willing to share up to half the bottle while at Gencon with fellow bourbon lovers. :)

I mean I do have to bring some home to Lisa. She'd kill me if I didn't

EDIT: that's max retail cost of $200US + a $40US bonus to whoever can get one to me. Or we can talk tokens considering it looks like I am not getting a GT this year, sigh.

Um, how can bourbon come from England? Isn't it a corn-based product - I thought they didn't grow corn over there due to climate. Just curious...
