Well most of my costume sorting and pre-packing is finished...now what...

MOVIE DAY...

And in the spirit of True Dungeon - time for my FAV sword and sorcery line up.

First: Flesh and Blood - Rutger as a Mercenary - Kick butt!
Second: Conan the Barbarian...forget Destroyer...could not get past Grace - good in the Bond flick - scary with that thing on her head!

And Last but not least - the best D&D based movie ever...

Hawk the Slayer!

Jack Palance was a bit much - but if you focus on the "good" characters, the Elf, the Dwarf, the giant...you get the COOL factor of the movie.

Time for some sodas and snacks...
Tell that to Kevin. He's started calling himself "Kunte Neff". And I haven't even made him help with the TD stuff yet, he's just trying to help me keep up with all the other crap. :O
13th Warrior?

It's OK - I mean it does a good job with Vikings...and cannibal cults.

But Antonio sort of spoils that flick.

I'll give it honorable mention...and maybe watch it if there is time...

OK on to Conan...

PS - Flesh and Blood is a very "adult" movie - for lack of better words...not for the meek or moral minded - I find it a harsh look at 16th century Europe - one best left in the dark ages.

O YES - THAT reminds me - one more flick to add to the list... EXCALIBUR! must put that in the top 5.

G

Gary, thanks for the list. I had not heard of Flesh and Blood and definately didn't know it was directed by Verhoeven. Gotta check out that Hawk the Slayer too--Jack Palance? I'm so there!

Hawk the Slayer was a movie quest that I was on for over 10+ years...

I saw it on TV sometime in 1984 I think and did not get it on video until 1996ish - then about two years ago I found it on DVD in NYC. Just the other day I saw it at Best-buy on DVD here in Orange County.

Other than that flick - only Blood of Heroes has given me trouble getting on DVD. (another great Rutger Hauer flick!)

Flesh and blood was also known as The Rose and the Sword... I warn anyone looking to see it - this is not for anyone under 18 and I would say it is not for those who are troubled by barbaric immoral group behavior.

The appealing parts of the movie are a couple of decent castle siege sceens, interesting love triangle plot (almost Arthur-ian in nature) and great sword combat sceens. Costumes are great too.

G

An old one from an old guy, but you would probably love it. Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis in The Vikings. Scenery and music is incredible.

Might go watch it now.

Widseth
