any ideas how to handle if say week 3 football ends ?

Total point differential through all games played? Although it's quite possible that multiple people have the same picks they first few weeks.

The better question is what happens if someone picks a team and that game gets postponed or cancelled?

Not wishing anything on anyone.

The pool may be better handled as an over/under on which team has least covid-19 cases when the season is shut down. Or possibly which team last the longest without a case. Alternative which team is the first with a case or the most cases.

Looking the situation in baseball. Miami had first case. St. Louis losing more games at this point and have to schedule 8 more double headers. And you are just 2-3 weeks into the season.

I was going to start this up soon.

NFL is just another team in the eliminator, if the league ends, they lose......and survivors carry over to next season.

Nothing says we can't have 2 going next year, one with everyone, one with 2020 survivors....

I agree with Wade, we could try to have it this season but if things don't work out just carry every one over to next season. You could also try a pick'm league with everyone picking 10 NFL games agains't the spread of the game.

I vote for an eliminator league, as per usual
$10 entry, as per usual
70/30 split of 1st/2nd place
If a player is eliminated, they are out
If the season stops, the remaining players start over next season with the teams they have selected this season thus far no longer available

*If a game is postponed on its start date (Thursday, Sunday, Monday) that week is a free week for any player who picked either team. It still counts as having selected that team. No changing picks after learning of a postponement.

If a game is postponed the day before it is scheduled to start, it is the players responsibility to select a new team, otherwise they will be eliminated. Note, this could be brutal if a Monday night game is postponed on Sunday evening*

(I don't know if this is the best way to handle this scenario, but I wanted to come up with something)
