Hey folks. Just thought I’d give an update since I haven’t posted in awhile.
Many of you know my father died the night before my birthday in August, and they wouldn’t let me see him to say goodbye.
We put our house up for sale and spent two months trying to pack and get out. After much drama we finally got into our new place in February, a 180-year-old farmhouse on five acres. Still unpacking and fixing things, learning how to use a zero-turn mower and making friends with our Amish neighbors, who are all awesome so far.
I have limited emotional reserves so I’m avoiding controversy, as much as I can. I’ve dropped off Facebook, and I’m avoiding this year’s token discussions, especially since I didn’t seem to have anything of value to say last year.
I miss everyone a lot. VTD has been nice, and Jeff and crew have made some great lemonade from the mountain of lemons they were handed, but it’s not the same as sitting in the storyscape watching my friends rush by to their next run, or joining in their triumphant celebrations or consoling them on their TPK.
We hope to see you at a convention soon. I know I said I was avoiding controversy so if this next bit bothers you I’m sorry but I’m not discussing beyond stating this: I won’t be going to any cons that mandate masks or vaccines or distancing. I’m 100% over it. When things are back to 2019-normal I’ll be there, but it would break my heart to go to some lame quarantine-light convention. I’d spend more time mourning what we lost than enjoying the crumbs they’ll deign to grant us. So I am categorically rejecting the “new normal” as I await our return to the old.
Anyway, maybe I’ll post some picks of our baby chickens when we pick them up.
Best of luck on the new token collection.
