TOPIC: FYI - Downtown, in block, Gen Con Rooms Available right now

As of right now there are in-block rooms available at some of the downtown hotels that are 5-6 blocks away from the convention center.

A friend of mine snagged a room at the Westin across the street earlier today.

(People are cancelling because today is the last day to cancel before you pay a 1 day room fee).

Note: The landing page of the housing portal says they are "sold out" - ignore it - it's wrong - just do the search.

To be precise, the housing portal doesn't close until July 18th, but thanks to the $50 cancellation deadline, there won't be particularly many rooms being released after today.

Matthew, thanks for the heads up. I didn't grab one since the Embassy Suites is still sold out, but it's great that there are some downtown options for people that want to grab them today.
