Did it happen at all? Did not see/hear anything about it.

Is this a TD thing, or an off-topic?

(just wondering because I heard nothing about it)

It did happen, I was told by Bridget that it took way more time then it purported to. She said she enjoyed it, however.

I'm happy to have this moved to Off opic, but it was GenCon Indy stuff (not TD, though).

I saw a bunch of people at their booth outside the Hall.

Brian
I'm not complaining... I was just wondering if it was something that someone talked about for the tavern or something & I just missed it there, or if I missed it because I rarely got away from TD. =]

It happened. It did, indeed, take way more time than originally advertised. (Each day had 6 mini-missions, each of which could take 20 - 30 mins to complete, they said, or 2-3 hours of work per day) My friends played, and working in teams (sometimes joined up with other teams) they said it took 4+ hours per day.

I tried to play, and had very mixed reactions about it. Some stuff was seriously messed up: actors not being in the right place at the right time (so you couldn't phycically finish the mission), or their staff seriously underestimating how long it would take to run 40 people through a poker game until each person had the chance to handle a $100,000 chip... but by the 3rd day (when I'd stopped playing because of the time drain) my friends said they'd really brushed things up a lot, and it was running more smoothly. They'll definitely play again next year.

I heard it described at one point as "True Dungeon with no time limits" ... lots of puzzles, and many physical challenges, all of which could be done in pretty much any order, and with as much time as required. But that did mean that if the team running the challenge ahead of you was taking too much time to run a remote-controlled car through a hallway in search of a hidden object, you got stuck cooling your heels until they were finally done. Not fun if you were running late for an event. But very cool if you were the one driving the remote controlled car!

If they improve as much from year to year as they did from day to day, you'll be hearing a lot more about this event.

It looked interesting. I'm sure the first TD had a couple hiccups - I am sad to say I missed the first dungeon!
It was scattered around the Con, and nearby sites of interest.

First you took your ticket to the Guardian 6 booth (near the Fan HQ) and got a dossier with the day's missions. Then you'd read up on the missions, and go to the place it told you.

You might have to find a man with a black box, sitting in the Marriot Lobby, and convince him to give you the co-ordinates for an operative, who could then trade you an important micro-dot for a rare coin. Or you might have to go to the Indiana State House, and look for a mysterious contact there, who would give you futher instructions. Or you might have to go the "The House", a little super-spy nightclub set up in the basement of a hotel, and play poker until you won the $100,000 chip, so you could bring that chip to a contact and have them retrieve the nano-dot embedded in it.

Some missions had time limits, like "must be completed by 4pm", or "Your contact will not be available before noon". Many missions involved travelling to places, doing a task, and returning to the original contact... so the time spent in transit had to be factored in. It's not the sort of game I'd recommend for people with impaired mobility... though you could play it if you were dedicated.

It sounded like it could be really fun, just not feasible with my schedule...
