Feh. Sounds like work to me. For all that walking around and time spent, they should be paying me.

The secret underground Speakeasy you had to have a password to get into was a lot of fun. Couches, tables, booths, a bar. I got to hang out there a couple of times (Gen Con Sr. Volunteers and some VIPS, etc, had access, as well as Guardian 6 players).

Sounds kewl, but seems like someone with a volunteer schedule would have a hard time doing it - I had a hard enough time playing games!<br />

<br /><br />See... Everyone wants to be TD (or like TD).  But, it is unpossible, I tell you.  UNPOSSIBLE!!

There is a Guardian 6 website ( www.guardian6.com ) with forums and some sample missions if you guys are interested in more info.  The "house" was open to all Gen Con attendees, you just needed the right password, it was by no means limited to staff or volunteers or anything like that, though it seemed to become the favorite hangout of some of them.  I particularly like it because they had Strongbow on tap, and cider is not easy to come by in Indy.

well, my gencon started out really crappy, and G6 was part of that bad start, but that doesnt mean it is a bad event.  i was very hyped about it before getting to gencon.  my plan was to spend a few hours in the morning doing g6, then head to TD for thursday.  the problem was that they got a VERY slow start, and then we had to wait in line to get our dossier, so i lost at least an hour of my morning.  then i read the missions, and it was obvious that i wouldnt have time for more than one of them at that point before needing to get to TD, two were at least one block from the convention center, at least one couldnt be done until afternoon (after i would be at TD for the rest of the day), and two were in the dealer room...which didnt open until 11 thursday AND THE WHOLE POINT OF G6 TO ME WAS SOMETHING TO DO WHILE I DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO!  (the dealer room is a big something-to-do) so that really pissed me off.  so i shoved the paper into my pocket and wandered for an hour before heading to TD and never returned to G6, even though i had a 3 day ticket for it (only being able to play between 9-10am and 6-8pm with each mission probably requiring at least and hour with travel time, i just felt there was no point in trying to work it in).  also, do note that my issue was all about timing and location, the event/mission itself could very well be amazing, and if enough others say it is i may try to work it into my schedule next year, though the hours really need to be extended past 8pm.

How long do you think it'll take until it's big enough we can start a rivalry with it? It might be kinda spiffy to have a inter-event feud.

It will be very interesting to see how/if G6 progresses from year to year. It was very much a mixed bag this year. The puzzles/challenges themselves were cool and interesting for the most part. However, staffing and organization were very much lacking. In many ways, it is going through the same growing pains as True Dungeon-- except that I think it is even harder for G6 because they try spreading it out over several city blocks. I almost think that it could benefit mightily from the help of Jeff or other long-time TD staff. I worry that they had some large expenditures (renting the bar for the House, renting a penthouse suite, etc) and low turn-out, so that they may have lost too much money this year to be able to come back next year.
