TOPIC: Update on Completed Rod of Seven Parts

Re: Update on Completed Rod of Seven Parts 10 years 3 months ago #121

One here.....

Also depending on the cost I may not transmute mine. I don't think the alt class for 1 one run each year will be worth if if the transmute cost is too much. How about 1 run with the alt class for each adventure so two runs a year.

I like that idea.

I am Garrison's Mystery Guest
currently have segments 1-6
I like the idea of 1 run with alt class per adventure but I can see how it might be more difficult for Jeff and company to keep track of.

By cost are you referring to the GP and trade item requirement that comes with most other transmutes? I hadn't heard anything about a transmute cost being associated with the rod segments and assumed it would be a simple "drop 7 tokens in a bag, get one token back" type exchange.

I for one hope there isn't an additional requirement beyond obtaining the 7 segments and turning them in, those were hard enough to get my hands on to start with...

I would +1 this idea only so that I don't have to pick which adventure I would rather have a special sub-class for. I'd be able to play the entire "Story" each year as my character, and anything beyond that would be extra "for fun" runs so I wouldn't care as much about the class or subclass options.

It may well be the same transmute cost as the Eldritch Ring, one of each UR plus one of each Trade Item Token except for Golden Fleece. Hopefully it isn't higher than that.

Given that the statistical improvements from the completed rod are equal to the sum of the parts - AND NO MORE, and due to the fact that there has been no mention of a transmute cost for this, I would not expect there to be any transmute cost, consistent with providing each of the seven part tokens and getting one completed rod in return - AND NO MORE.

I'm sure the alt class opportunity will be nice, and I suspect it's only a matter of time before it is open to all players, but I still want to lobby for the number one element that makes TD thrilling. It's not tokens, sorry - it is and always will be clever and innovative dungeons that challenge and exceed the thrills of the previous dungeons.

Beyond what you have counted, I know of at least 2 more completed rods out there from others. I'm sure there are more.

I am very confident that it was stated that the transmute cost for the rod would be the segments plus one of each trade good, just like the supreme ring. it was said that would be the standard for all eldritch items. now, that isn't saying that jeff cant change his mind, but as for what was said before, I am/was sure enough of that standard that years ago I already set aside two ziplock bags with one of each trade good and a checklist for the rod segments.

I don't have a stake in this discussion as I only have segments 4 and 6 and soon will have 7. Short of winning the lottery, that's not going to change.

But given that there was a $7 K investment over the years to acquire the segments, the segments should be enough cost for the transmute.
