Cool Project.

Wow, you're already up to relic weapons.. it to me 4-5 year to make that jump.

Looking forward to seeing your finished axe. If you put a strong magnet on to it, you may be able to attach it to a shoulder strap for when you're not using it.

Like I mentioned in my new player thread, after just 2 games, I've already spent too much money on tokens :silly:

You're off to a good start.
For a quick easy to use prop PVC and Foam are the way to go.

I make weapons out of foam and PVC a lot, I've upgraded to graphite but its all the same.
If I were you and really wanting to make it look good I would suggest "skinnin" it with craft foam.
Its a lot more smooth and you're likely to find it takes paint better.

PlastiDip is slightly tricky to work with but if you can master it you can produce some really nice looking things.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I hate to always be the one bringing up potential problems...

Please be careful with supermagnets, especially at chest level. If anyone with a pacemaker, like my wife, bumps into you in a crowded dungeon, it could shut them off.

That would suck.

That's why I stopped wearing my magnetic armband.

Thank you for pointing that out. This is why the forum is great place to talk about ideas.

I'd love to see some photos of your home made weapons sometime (in a new thread of course)

I love the forums, too. I spend too much time here, and I learn a lot.

The second session begins! I usually only go to my buddy's shop about once a week, so this project will progress in bursts.

Start of session 2 - Decided to rasp some more texture onto the PVC to start.

Time to rub this all over the pipe. Supposedly, this will make it look like wood. We'll see.

Just the first rub turned out gorgeous! Let's continue to cover this thing!

Already loving the texture and look of this. Will definitely have to continue rubbing it on to get those marks filled in.

A fully rubbed PVC pipe. From a distance, it really does look like wood. It's crazy.

Alright, time to contact cement together my axe-head.

Completely coated in the stuff.

Plopped an anvil on it to make it flat while it cemented together. One of my friends looks on in concern, as I placed it a little to close to the edge of the workbench.

With the main axe-head together, time to thicken up the part by the core.

Decided to start putting on a second coat to darken it up a bit.

Fully rubbed second coat. I love how this turned out. Night 3 will probably be shaping and finishing the axe-head!

Third session begins. Mostly just some work on the axe-head. I did get some ideas for the pommel, and ordered a part to make it super cool. B)

And now to coat it in Mod Podge!

Followed by Plasti-Dip!

A nice coat of plastic-like spray over it.

After it dried a bit, I cut the hole and decided to do a test fit. It looks so good.

Realized part of the core needs to look metal near the axe head, so I used some tape to get a nice barrier and coated it in plasti-dip.

A nice stark line.
