Complaints will stem from how it’s done. Given:

Recipe 1:
Requires 1 of every greave made so far

Recipe 2:
Requires any 7 rare graves

There will be many fewer complaints about recipe 2 than recipe 1

Yuuuuuup. I just save back what I think I might need and plan to roll with the punches, but some people just wanna be mad. I'm still hoping for a VTD/multi year monster bit transmute to celebrate the happenings

That’s it. I officially complain that there aren’t more transmutes using tokens from prior years without us knowing they were coming! Too much predictability!

I do remember the early days of combo tokens, when they would sometimes use out of print tokens. There was often a mad hunt to find those OOP (and often pretty rare) tokens. I also remember when Trade Item Tokens were introduced, and people were asking Jeff how many of each token they should keep from transmuting for possible future combo recipes. That's when Jeff said he wouldn't use OOP tokens in combo/transmuted recipes so that people could transmute trade item tokens without worry. The Storyline Monster Ingredient transmutes seem to be the exception to that rule, but people know that it's likely coming even without an announcement.

My search-fu fails me but Jeff had said that completion tokens would likely be part of transmutes not from the same year. We did do the reaver transmutes that included completion tokens that came earlier in the year that the recipe was announced but I can't recall any since he said that about 2 years ago where it would go back to a prior year on completion tokens.

You're not wrong there.

Along the same lines I would like to see more mixing between old and new tokens. For example it would have been nice if the Charm of the Wind had been made part of the Wind Set. I don't see a problem with unannounced tokens being part of a transmute, as long as it is a modestly powerful item as proposed here.
