I screwed up. I did not bother to carefully check the value of 10x Treasure Chips before setting the ingredients for the 2022 Transmute token called Pirate's Treasure Map. I relied on my poor memory, and thus screwed this thing up.

The 10x Treasure Chips go generally for around $30-$40 each, so we have to make sure that the relative value of the Pirate's Treasure Map formula is generally in that area. As it is written now, someone could turn in 10 Darkwood Planks (and a Trophy token) and get the Pirate's Treasure Map for about one-third of the relative value of a 10x Treasure Chip.

It is difficult to set a new formula for the Pirate's Treasure Map to a more "market" price listing -- as values can change based on many things, but I need to take a good guess. We are changing the formula only in one way -- increasing the amount any token you can turn into get the 10 random draws from the Treasure Pile.

We are also upping the limit of tokens that can be transmuted at once from 5 to 10 Pirate's Treasure Map tokens. We may remove this limit later in the year, but we want to make sure we have enough for everyone at the start. You will still have to redeem them in person at an in-person Con, however.

Any combination of FORTY (40) of the following Trade items:
• Alchemist's Ink
• Alchemist's Parchment
• Darkwood Plank
• Dwarven Steel
• Enchanter's Munition
• Minotaur Hide
• Mystic Silk
• Philosopher's Stone
plus ONLY ONE of the following:
• Alien Goo
• Basilisk Eye
• Harpy Feather
• Stone Guardian Chip
• Wight Dust
• Yeti Fang
• 1,000 GP Gold Bar (not 1k in "loose change")

UPDATED 6:14pm CST 11.11.21

We are going to leave the Pirate's Treasure Map formula unchanged from what was announced a few months ago except the maximum to turn in at once is going up to 10 (from 5).
NOTE on 11/18/21: We are NOT raising the limit from 5 to 10 tokens that can be transmuted at a time. This has nothing to do with how many you can redeem at a time. There is not limit on that at a Con.

We are keeping all the original details EXCEPT we are adding the qualification that only 1 group of the PTM can be made by a person per calendar month. Also, be aware that we only have a limited number of these tokens available, so once they are all gone...they are all gone.

I apologize. I had no idea folks were already spending real money to stock up for this the Pirate's Treasure Map, and I honestly thought I was helping some folks by keeping up the value of the 10x Treasure Chip. I thought so long as this change was made before the Pirate's Treasure Map was available, we'd be okay. I was wrong.
I am really out of touch sometimes, and it is embarrassing. Thanks for your patience and any grace you can throw my way.

FWIW, many DP and MS are now selling for 1.50 apiece or so, likely in large part due to this recipie.

Making this number 20 would likely achieve the stated goal without creating quite the outcry that a number of 40 would.

I second that! 20-25 seems in line with market and the range above, while 40 seems very out of range, disincentivizing even making these for me.

I think at 40 most people will not make any. I was unlikely to make any at 10 given the massive spike in recipe requirements this year.

LoL I suggested 15 during token design, but 40 seems pretty crazy. I'm glad I haven't invested a bunch into trade goods but I was going to, I'm sure the people that have invested already are going to be a little upset. 20 would be an ok compromise I feel.

I wont lie - the value proposition at 10 trade items is the reason I have been buying Darkwood Plank at $1 each in all the auctions I can. I have a plethora of Monster Bits...

I’m not going to lie I’m pretty disappointed at this change. I bet I’m not the only one that has purchased DP/MS in the past month with the intention of making maps.

At 40 requirement I will make 0.

i am still making some. the extra extra trade goods. I would rather have maps then sell them at $1 a piece

Damn, record high inflation hit the token market too.

Anyway, I have 0 interest in the treasure maps now. I’d rather sell off my extra DP and MS for a dollar each, and keep the monster trophies. (Note that I won’t do this until transmutes come out, for those about to jump in my DMs)

I will make absolutely zero maps at that rate, I had planned on cleaning out my extra monster bits from last year, and my extra trade goods.

Your also completely ignoring the fact that the recipe is still limited by needing a monster bit or 1000 gold for every map. Based on gold value the recipe is about the right price already, is it cheap based on the price of monster bits? Yes, but this will also help essentially rebalance the trade goods by removing a lot of the extra supply.

Raising the price a little I understand but 4x is insane.
