I am sitting on 10 big boxes to turn in for trade items and more to go through. when it is all done I could easily do 1k treasure maps. since I drive my tokens to the shop (gas is cheaper than mailing), will they make me walk in and out 100 times? :S

That's a shit ton of maps. Do u have 1,000 monster bits? Or would u use 1K Bars?

Smak spend GP? Inconceivable!

One of the reasons why I wanted to raise the cost of a Pirate's Treasure Map is because we only have so much "random treasure" set aside for our set amount of the PTM tokens. Once the PTM inventory has been sent out, we won't be recycling any PTM into use as they come back at Cons. We just don't have the extra treasure to do so. That's why we have a 5 limit on making PTM's at once -- and we will amend that so there is a one 5-max redemption allowed per calendar month. I want to make sure everyone gets a chance to get some PTMs - and that all the PTMs aren't gobbled up in a few months.

So, in person transmuting is also limited to 5 per event?

Also, once you reach the limit and cut off the transmute for 2022; is it possible you will re-open the pirate map transmute for 2023? Or is it DONE when the 2022 limit is hit?
this is not a signature.

Given the potential abuse, having limits makes sense. So...
You can transmute for a max of 10 per order.
You can redeem 5 per month, but only at in-person events

Given the current schedule, am I correct that redemptions can occur at Skull Con (June), Gen Con (August), Pax West (September) and GHC (October)? That would be a max of 20 redemptions in 2022. 2023 would depend upon what events are scheduled for that year.

Do you have a mechanism in place for tracking redemptions?

I'd bet a fair amount of money that he runs out. Based on the going rates you're talking 15 or $16 for a 10x draw. It really should be 20 of the trade items, not 10.

Plus shipping, which I realize isn't a big deal when you're combining dozens of big transmutes, but if you just want to make a map or two, the $34 in shipping costs to make them is kind of unfeasible.

I don't think anyone would really be too upset if the recipe went from 10 trade goods to 20. Most the sentiment on this thread was that seemed about right. I get the uproar when it was proposed from going from 10 to 40, that seemed a huge jump; but 10 to 20 seemed like yep that's about right. Jeff you might want to reconsider that more modest increase. I agree everyone should get to have some fun with PTM.

At 20, I won't be making any. At 10, I would have made a few. It does get a little frustrating when recipes are debated and then changed afterwards, even for simple things like the maps.

Things get complicated sometimes when treasure pulls are involved. :)

Considering that every 8k bundle is like 25x PTM and people have been sitting on chaff for years, preparing for smak level action seemed reasonable. I doubt I'll have the interest, but I could send in one TG transmute and generate like 20x PTM components and this is after selling off all of my DP and MS to folks who are likely going to use those for PTMs. With VTD treasure, guessing another 30x PTM potential from just me. Multiply that by 100 for probably just folks that aren't at the highest end of token buys.

Not that every single worst TG will go into PTMs, but there are tons of tokens sitting around unactivated. Whether I just convert those into treasure draws or sell the components to others, it's certainly a way to suck junk out of the system to drop 50000+ treasure draws on another part of the system.

So, per the other poster's question, how does this in person limit actually work to limit treasure pulls? Doesn't it just go back to the "Psst, buddy, can you do a bloke a favor and cash in these 5 blue tokens?" possibility? Also, doesn't it greatly limit the value of PTMs that they/the treasure can run out?

Maybe next year we need to come up with a Trade Good sink that takes a ton of Trade Good tokens out of circulation and doesn't involve treasure pulls. Maybe have a Relic that requires just a truckload of "any" trade goods.
