Clearly you never had to worry about a Mace Wielding farmer, in the tavern though, . . . well I'd keeping running if I were you. ;)

I agree with all the comments about some of the more useless tokens, and absolutely about replacing the lower amount gold tokens with higher value gold tokens.

I also think that it would be neat if each year's tokens included a few really powerful tokens that only appeared in that year. It would certainly be incentive to buy tokens every year, since if you didn't buy tokens in a year you'd miss the cool tokens for that year only.

Given that, I'd recommend removing the Elven Chain and/or the +1 Longbow - of course they would have to be replaced with tokens that are as cool or better!

...we need to do something for the common player - so that they can spend gold pre-adventure...(in the tavern/muster/training area - which is a trick as there is currently no room/time for a shop.) Too bad we can't invent a vending machine that would take a 200GP gem and dispense whatever the customer punched in...it would eat up Muster room time - but make for REALLY happy common players!!!

Thats exactly right. True Dungeon need something a gold sink for the common players. Traders interest in gold is limited by the two official gold sinks that are currently in place (Artisan tokens and Combo Tokens). If a Trader isn't interested in either of these and there are no other official gold sinks provided to players, then there interest in gold (i.e. value) will go down.

And there are a TON of options for common player gold sinks. The easiest is the True Dungeon shop but there are other items and services that we could provide.

1) Guild Memberships
A. Casters (Wizard, Bard)
B. Healers (Cleric, Paladin, Druid)
C. Warriors (Fighter, Monk, Barbarian, Ranger)
D. Thieves Guild (Rogue)
E. Alternate - Nature (Druid, Ranger)
2) Purchasing actual True Dungeon Merchandise (Mugs, vials and such) with gold.
3) Purchasing Enchantments (good for one dungeon) from a Wandering Wizard
4) Interactive NPCs using gold
A. Bribing a guard,
B. Donating to a homless person
C. Paying someone to sing or play a song with gold
D. Paying for Rumors (This would allow us to remove Rumors from the mix)
The quality of the Rumor would depend on how much you paid and who you ask.
This is more of what I see Rumors as anyway.
5) There could even be a game of chance set up in the Tavern and a chance to win more Gold

The more official uses of gold inside True Dungeon, the greater the demand for gold will be from both the common players and the traders and the happier players will be when they get gold inside their packs. Who knows... maybe they will even buy more packs just to get gold!

These are some cool ideas! I hope we will have the volunteer and monetary resources to make some of them happen. One bummer though...some of them would be considered gambling and thus illegal! The fact that you are paying real money for a random amount of fake money makes buying anything "real" with the fake money a no-no. So long as it stays "in-game" we are cool.

#3 is my FAV...as player coaches do tend to hand out basic gear anyway....

#1 is cool and all - but might not be of value to the common player just trying to get through alive.

So what could the enchantments be???

+1 to a specific save throw - or +1 to all...
+1 to hit to a specific monster - ot +1 to all...
+3 hit points
+1 AC

AND could a player able to pay for an enchantment "buy" more than one? Could they buy the specific one they wanted or leave it up to chance??? Lots of coolness here. Good Job Douglas!

It would be cool if there was an option to trade for something(s) cool just based on the sheer quantity of tokens. Like, the store would take 100 tokens of ANYTHING for a magic sword, and 500 tokens of ANYTHING for a magic helm, etc. That would not only act as a sink for unwanted gold, but it would act as a sink for unwanted common tokens for the affluent.

I vote for 2007 to be allowed to turn in unused tokens for low sugar chocolate coins.

With regard to number 5, I would think this would be OK if you were gambling GP tokens for GP tokens because there is no money changing hands. Is this not how it works? Any lawyers here?
