Kirk Bauer wrote: I just called Incognito. He has been too busy this year and also it seems he is burned out from full time volunteering. He also can't attend very many cons in a year.

I also know that finding volunteers was a challenge for GenCon. But me and at least one other DM are willing to volunteer to make Grind happen again in the future.

I'm thinking there is maybe a way that we can get a few volunteers together and work with Incognito to design a new Grind for a convention after GenCon, even if he doesn't attend.

I miss Grind so if I can help bring it back I will. I'll see if I can discuss it with Jeff at SkullCon.

I actually have written a module for a grind. Lets chat sometime offline and see what You and I can do

History has taught us you are really good at a fast paced decision making as a DM and, yes, Eric and Raven are both legends but I'd like to see True Grind again and think you would be fantastic at running it if neither are available.
Some of the issues we've had in the past were changes submitted after deadlines when we had all the combat boards packed for the show, requests for extra props or lighting on site, and no disrespect, but poor planning for a really cool side event takes more time away from preparing for the main show so it makes our lives harder if we don't have a detailed layout well over a month in advance. As a satellite game to TD, it does offer dynamic style and a more D&D vibe as we don't really care about the rules or scripting along our story arc so long as it's still fair, fun and still loosely based on our combat mechanics.
If I don't have to repack and wrap my pallets over a True Grind last minute change again, it would be nice. However, I do see it coming back, just can't say when.
We've offered a few alternative game modes for Grind with little success and other suggestions. Any ideas you may have, I'd love to hear them and will pass them along to Jeff and John.

Eric or Raven running Grind would be great but if they aren't available, I'd like to see it not just die off.

I'd be happy to volunteer to DM Grind Friday afternoon/night at Gencon as well as help with tear down.

I agree with Troy that we couldn't have last minute changes - the boards packed as the final boards. With that said, we experimented with a digital projection system for boards with Grind in (I think) 2018 or 2019 - I could see that solving for last minute stuff (especially if we could leverage some of the lessons from VTD.)

I could see grind running with just 1-2 volunteers during runs and maybe 8 hours of set-up time and 1-2 hours of tear down time.

We could experiment with it and try it out at Skullcon - all the boards are there and Chad has a module ready to go.

Grind would require 3 volunteers. 1 coach, 2 DMs. The coach is 30 min offset from the DMs.

1 coaching room. 1 double size room with 3 tables.

Although it would mean fewer runs, you can run grind with 1 DM (I've seen it many times) and have the DM do coaching as well. 30 min coaching, 90 minute grind, 15 minute break/clean-up. 1 person could do that without there being overlap. 2 people would be more ideal. 1 doing coaching them jumping in to help run 60 minutes of grind then going back to coaching. It would also give a little redundancy if someone gets sick, etc..
