Would there be any appetite from TPTB for a volunteer built scheduler? Something that let's people coordinate groups, available times, other constraints, and generates assigned tickets?

Bring able to plan together so we can all play together is a great thing. I think it would be cool.

I don’t think the way TD did this was terrible. Previously, people could buy out whole runs. I guarantee no tickets to Grind would have made it to Sunday if that were the case (we see this with GHC every year.) (As an aside, TD - please don’t put all Grind runs for GHC on sale for early access - only a portion of them.)

There will always be cases where high demand events won’t allow for everyone to play exactly in the groups they planned. I also don’t want Picc to get pushed to do too many runs - quality really matters for Grind and it isn’t as tightly scripted as the regular adventures (hard to plug other people in to run it.)

For those saying they only got 2 of 4 events they could play together, that isn't completely fair. 1 event is restricted to path holders. There are 2 runs for that still fully open - if you have that token, you 100% can play together. Similarly, there are full runs open for circle and fang. 3 of the 4 allow for groups to play together.

Unlike GHC, after the patron early buy, the majority about 1/3rd (corrected - I used the number when I finished Saturday - apparently more sold after) of Grind tickets were still available for general on-sale.

The spreadsheet is a good courtesy tool but more than half if the community didn’t know about it. I am on both the forums and discord and missed it until Saturday. I know players who don’t use either (some of them among the most recognizable players.)

Give TD a chance on March 15 (transmute deadline) to open things up. I am planning some themed runs myself (Pun guns anyone?)

The spreadsheet worked for me so far. The run I'd written down for my group is still completely open. Hopefully it still will be when we get our codes soon. :)

In both the spreadsheet and the first post linking to it grind was listed as only MoE holders should reserve their slot and that it would be free for all on what's remaining the next day. I ended up getting a grind slot I hadn't put into the spreadsheet, but I believe I was following the spreadsheet's guidance doing so and only didn't put it in the spreadsheet earlier because the instructions indicated not to.

It sounds like there were more problems than that, but at least for grind I think the spreadsheet worked as intended in that regard.

Well, the spreadsheet was always intended as just an aid to help people try to coordinate. It was never going to be perfect but I'm glad to hear it helped some. I know our group with two exceptions were able to get everything we wanted. It's a large group, so it was a high percentage of success.

I'll wait and see, but I don't think the spreadsheet is going to help on the 2nd pass because I think there will be more people than tickets available. It won't be as tough as True Grind but I don't think trying to preschedule will help as much.

And, yes, thank you to those who followed instructions on True Grind. What happened is exactly what I thought would happen. If you didn't have a MoE, it was going to be a wild shootout for what was left.

For the record, only 37 out of 100 tickets were left when it opened up on Sunday.

Dave,
Thank you for doing the spreadsheet. It helped me immensely. I really appreciate what you do for the community--spreadsheet organization for runs, Chase tokens spreadsheets each year, Safeholds, trading of Chase tokens, etc.

37 grind tickets available Sunday is fewer than I thought. I bought tickets at just after noon on Saturday. It probably took me half an hour to juggle it out and finish. At that time, well less than half of Grind had been sold and 2 of the path runs were completely empty. It looks like we're down to 19 open path slots with Grind sold out. We have 23 other runs that are completely empty and 61 total runs where 5 or more tickets are available.

I suspect quite a few of the runs with a handful of people will move around and end up with more completely open runs and more of the partial runs filling up - especially with themed runs, etc.. I know I want to do both circle and fang twice so I have a chance to (maybe) solve all the puzzles. We'll get the opportunity for that in March.

Well, the spreadsheet could only hold my slot open for so long, it's no longer open. There do seem to be a couple of alternative spots. My transmuted Rings are shipping now, so hopefully the codes will be emailed soon. :)

Sorry the spot wasn't held.

Glad to see the interest in Ring Con, but it's probably time to retire the spreadsheet. Unfortunately, while likely not as bad as getting True Grind tickets, getting a 2nd run a Ring Con looks to be a bit of rush.

As of this time 315 tickets to The Sacred Circle are gone. Only 255 are left, meaning if no one else gets their Ring Code (highly unlikely), 60 people will not be able to get a 2nd Run.

As for Fang & Fury, it's a little better. 312 tickets are gone, but 298 are left, so only a difference of 14 thus far.

We're likely going to see some groups broken up into multiple runs. The biggest issue I see are people showing up with Epic/Mythic builds for The Sacred Circle and having someone else join only ready for Hardcore. Someone is not going to be happy.

At least that is probably only an issue for The Sacred Circle. Fang & Fury is sealed pack, so only Normal and Hardcore are even available. And xp will be the same either way.

And I think (and hope) that any issues are minimal and very few. I know most of this community are happy to work things out within a group for the benefit of all. I think we all share our love for TD and desire to just have fun.
