Re: "Who wants to be a Super Hero" and True Dungeon Link? 17 years 7 months ago #37

BONUS - man those are some great prizes! CONGA RATS!

Someone please post when the Sci-Fi movie will eventually air - I'll promise to at least TIVO that bad boy.

For me - getting some quality time with Stan the man would be AWESOME! I wonder who will be asked to do the artwork? Frank Miller - sorry maybe that is a dream - but I would buy that book in a minute if FM was to do it up!

Ever since the Dark Knight Returns, Miller has seemed a little too full of himself for me. I like his earlier stuff but can't look at new stuff.

I'll agree with that - Classic Daredevil stuff and even his Sci-Fi stuff was Excellent - what did he do - Machine Man comics...that level of detail has only been matched by Simonson IMHO.

G

that would be way cool to get autographed copies from an actual super hero. we know there is not a Superman or a Spiderman, etc. there is however, a real honest to god FEEDBACK. :wav: :wav: :wav:

One thing that made me cring on the show was the repeated "superheroes don't kill people" - Punisher, Wolverine, Hulk?
That and "a superhero never reveals his identity" - Fantastic Four? Most recently, Peter Parker? (OK, that happened after the show, but still Stan Lee/Jack Kirby's whole idea for FF was heroes without secret identities)

The thing is Punisher, Wolverine and Hulk are not super heroes.
Protagonists yes in that they are lead or main characters in their respective books.
Punisher isn't even Super. Wolverine and Hulk have super abilities.
They have a dual nature you could say.

From what little I've gleaned of the super hero show, it was for someone who was supposed to be a superhero, not dual nature antagonist/protagonists as the likes of the ones you mentioned.

Yeah, but that is the whole point of Marvel superheroes. Like Major Victory getting kicked for being funny. Spiderman? Hello? "Friendly neighborhood Spiderman" That was his whole poit, being irreverant.

So are you saying none of the X-Men are heroes? I can see the possibility of Punisher and Hulk (although does then elimiating Hulk eliminate the "superhero" teams he's been on?).

I dunno, it seems a narrow definition of superheo and, much more to the point, exactly opposite exactly what Stan Lee did to create Marvel as a response to the more staid heroes of DC.

Also Batman isn't a superhero either then?
