In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

I play the monk as my main character, and I've played the ranger several times, as well, and I must say that I find the ranger's attack style to be easier to manage, primarily because when you're lined up to slide, placing your two pucks in an ideal spot on the board before you slide them (to avoid fumbling the second puck before the first one stops), takes valuable time. The ranger, on the other hand, can walk up with one puck in each hand, slide both, and be done.

Having said that, some might find the ranger to be more difficult, as they are more dominant with one hand or aren't quite as coordinated. In general, most DMs I encountered didn't really care how you slid the monk pucks, as long as the second started before the first stopped. Even then, they'd give you a warning or two to figure it out.

My bigger issue with the monk is that if you are using Flurry and not using bracer weapons, the puck is weighted slightly differently than a puck that has a weapon in it. I'd like to see an actual token with the monk fist damage wheel glued into those pucks so that they have the same weight as a weapon. It's not much, but it does affect how the pucks slide, and for a new player, that could be frustrating.

Then you'd need four pucks for monk for every combat room.

Maybe there could be a common "fist wrap" token. Same damage as monks attack, any class, Monk can use two. Then players who don't want to slide an empty puck don't have to and those who are used to sliding an empty puck aren't forced to change.

I love this idea. If there's room in the set for mechanical cu is, there's room for fist wraps (even masterwork, or equivalent)

I would like to see tokens for the spells that require to hit slides. I agree that the feel of an empty puck is radically different from a loaded puck. There could be a collection of tokens for DM's that say Monk Fist, Ray of shock (wizard hit AC 15).

Or better yet, like the class buttons of several years back, a token collection for each class that stands in as abilities or spells that require slides. You get a class badge, and the tokens for the pucks.

I just slide an upside-down token when I cast a sliding spell, or if it's a scroll, I put the scroll token in the puck. No problems.

This is also what I do. There's no need for special tokens, just take some gear tokens or whatever and flip them facedown.

That works for spells and scrolls but not for monks as the damage wheel is printed on the bottom of the puck.

Though this year I told the DM I was casting sacred hammer, flipped my weapon upside down, slid my attack and was told my attacks would work better if I attacked with the correct side of my weapon.
