TOPIC: NIghtmare Mandate - Beating an almost dead horse

Re: NIghtmare Mandate - Beating an almost dead horse 10 years 8 months ago #61

I would pay significantly more for a nightmare ticket - if it was decided that NO dedicated nightmare runs could be devalued. On every nightmare walk in I have had no more than 2 experienced/geared members including myself and on everyone of these runs we have gone down to the lower difficulty for the newbs. The only nightmare runs that have remained nightmare runs I have had have ALL been preplanned runs here on the forums.
I can't help being a gorgeous fiend. It's just the card I drew.

What is significant? Even if it was $10 or $15 more I think unprepared people would still take them. When ticket crunch time comes people often grab what they can. Or given that people don't read/understand the description now, why will they read/understand this any better?

Perhaps it is time to setup a new team;

Maybe one thing they could do is bump the base price of Nightmare runs, and then give back the difference in tokens or store credit.

That way, the price is relatively the same for hardcore fans (since the extra money they pay goes for TD stuff that they would probably buy anyway). And hopefully this might dissuade more casual players from simply choosing it because it fit their schedule.

People pick up the nightmare runs at the last minute because all the others have sold out. Any change in price probably wont change that behavior.

the best solution would be to have all runs sold as single tickets and put the onus on the people buying the runs to organize themselves. given the popularity of TD I bet they would all still sell.

While that is a great idea, Jeff has already said GenCon will not allow that

I would love to see dedicated hardcore runs. After playing for 2 years I want the challege and risk of hardcore but am not equipt for a nightmare. Sometimes it seems the DMs are too easy on the normal runs. I have only died once as a barbarian(to the giant last year after doing 80% of the damage to him). Death on normal mode seems to be the rare exception. I wouldnt mind dying fighting the good fight.

Would Gencon possibly allow a type of "Golden ticket" event where Nightmare passes can be selected for order with your $1,000 token orders and a nightmare pass is required to register for a nightmare event?

Gencon doesn't like making weird exceptions. So if you can find another event that regularly does something we might be able to adopt that.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!
