Andrew speaks the word "eight" aloud...

But unfortunately the door stays firmly closed.

I use all my fingers and all my toes, count, then recount, scratch my head, count again and then say "two"

"Ruling out two and eight leaves much to ponder. Three, then, to open portal yonder?"

Joshua, after a time, begins to regain feeling in his hand yet it's still quite numb. It provides him the opportunity though to use said fingers to count and count again. Confidence brewing, this gives him boldness to speak! And thus he does shouting, "TWO"!

Alas, poor Joshua, we knew him well...

A bright bolt of light immediately envelops him in a searing white hot flash. As the party looks on in horror, the adventurer shakes and shudders then falls to the ground both smoldering and moaning. (he did make his saving throw so he's not dead... yet).

"OMG!!! They killed..." (wait, wrong universe)

Alan then, taking advantage of the obvious blunders of the previous two decides he'll take a crack at it. I mean, to the the victors go the spoils right?

He flips the numbers around in his mind, thinking of the recent words said many a time. Knowing that therein a clue must be, he suddenly blurts out, "It has to be, THREE!!!"

"WHO HAA!!"

The doors panels shudder and slide slowly open to reveal a large stone panel. There is an obvious button set into 9 equidistant spots upon the front of the panel. Each button is adorned with the number “3”

I'll step forward and slowly press the following buttons, waiting for any obvious response or reaction between each action:

(I get that they're all "3", the 1-2-3 is simply the sequence!)

As you press each button they light up in sequence starting with red then shifting to orange, then green and so on cycling though the rainbow across the top row. The colors shift rhythmically as they go looking something like this.

I'm gonna have to tap someone else in on this. I'm partially color blind!

I can see all the colors...but it means nothing to me.
