Out group is only about 4 to 5 people and we still take a shotgun approach to ticket buying lol. Each of us loads up 99% of our wishlists with a time frame that works for us all, then we wait for ticket sales to go live and hope that one of us gets through quick enough to grab a run for each individual dungeon. Then we release all the other runs we don't need.

It's been awhile, but I think if you are friends with someone on your gencon profile you don't want to go with 'buy a ticket for me as well as so-and-so'. I vaguely remember trying that one year and the system was like 'woah! Your friend has an event already in this time slot!'.... It was true dungeon. We had overlapped our run selection lol so we all had to go in and switch our wishlist selections to 'buy ticket for me and 4 others for me.' But like I said, it's been awhile so I can't 100% remember.

It is possible for 1 person to get full runs. I do it every year. I however I am not giving up my secrets because it is not easy and making it easier for anyone else makes it harder for me...lol.

BeLinda Mathie wrote: The free-for-all nature of GenCon TD ticket buying means we usually have every adult member of Guildy McGuildface make a wish list with TD runs at the top, and then have a frantic text chain trying to figure out what we got, and whether there are any runs we can release back into the pool. (We usually do only one run of each TD adventure at GenCon as a guild, since there is so much else to do. Some of us sign up for additional runs with other groups, though.) And it still takes ~5 people signing up to make sure we get the 2-3 runs.

DDA has as many of us trying with wishlist full of TD runs. Typically, we pick as a group the best times for all of us plus a few backup times, then each of us get a couple time slots as primary, and a couple as backup and wishlist all the runs within 20minutes or so of the ideal time. If someone gets stuck late in wishlist processing, hopefully someone else got that run.

Then on ticket day, we coordinate on a shared Google spreadsheet. Which lets us quickly see what we (as a group) managed to get in carts, and we can label stuff as keep or drop such that everyone can see before any actions are taken with our carts.

And I don't mind sharing this strategy, because the quicker that groups decide what to keep, the quicker they can release their extras. I'm sure a big part of tickets being so hard to get is everyone putting extras in their carts just to make sure they get something.

Biggest free for all trying to get any events tickets for GenCon.

If you get a queue number less than 4K you are doing very good.

In fairness, since we started buying out runs, we have always gotten the “one of each” runs we wanted at more or less the times we wanted at GenCon. It has just been really stressful.

If you need tickets for a full group, it can be difficult. If you only need tickets for a few people or less, it's not too bad. And there are a fair number of people whose schedules change, and they return tickets at the con. I've picked up many tickets by just checking what's available during the day. It does depend upon your level of flexibility, but the point is to not give up hope.

Day 1 and maybe 2 of Gencon sales is just a cart filled with every TD that will work for my crew, only accept if I get all 10.

When I get one I purge the remaining from the wishlist and buy

Day 3+ I buy my other event tickets.

Also check back throughout the day. Lots gets dumped back into the system (and snatched up again up just as fast) as people get their prefered runs sorted.

The other thing that is super weird about the GenCon ticket system is that friends are one way. For example, if I add Lazlo as a friend I can send him tickets, but he can't send me tickets without sending me a friend invite first.

I hate gencon ticketing...its a pain. But I do it. For the love of games.
