Thanks for your patience with the lack of info about WYC. Please let me know if you have any more questions. We all should have a great time there -- playing and transmuting and swapping stories about great conquests and epic failures. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again.

TIME:

Thursday: 6:00pm until 10:00pm

Friday and Saturday: 10:00am until 10:00pm

Sunday: 10:00am until Noon

LOCATION:

To be determined. We won't know the exact room number until Wednesday before WYC, but stop by the Hall of Champions to get that info. We will also post it here once we know.

HELPFUL HINTS:

1) Please print the PDF found at the link below to process your order.

www.truedungeon.com/newsletter/TEP_Form.pdf

2) Please put your order in a container with your name and cell phone number printed on it - just in case your papers are misplaced.

3) Please try to keep all 2016 tokens together in bags when possible. We save the Uncommon and Rare tokens for the Gen Con treasure generators, and it saves us a bunch of time if we know "all these bags are from 2016".

4) Try to transmute only the tokens you need for your TD run at first. Please make a second order of other tokens you don't need right away until after Friday afternoon. That will help us get all the "needed" transmute orders done for everyone.

5) If the token order is time sensitive because you want the tokens before a TD run, please right "I need this order by XX:XX" on the top of your form. We will TRY to get that done for you.

PROCESS:

Once you drop off your order, it will be placed in the waiting line. When we finish your order, we will call your cell phone and let you know your order is ready. We will do our utmost to get your "needed for my run" tokens to you in time.

Jeff, thanks for the info! I'll definitely be dropping off my transmutes on Thursday before the volunteer stuff that starts at 8PM (last I knew?).

I hate to be "that guy" but if you take the transmuted tokens and use them in the treasure generators at GenCon you'll end up with a lot fewer of the desirable tokens and a lot more of the undesirable ones. But on the other hand at one point you talked about increasing "other" to 5% so I'd think that could make up for it.

Regarding the use of the turned in tokens in the generators...we are only using the amount of turned in tokens to get us to the stated percentages of Uncommon and Rare. We had a "higher than guesses" number of Condensed packs, and so our Uncommon and Rares stocks are a bit low due to that. No worries.

I think it would be great to have some percentage of the Uncommon and Rare tokens from past years and not just from the current year. I think newer players might enjoy getting a mix of tokens from past and current years. I wouldn't mind seeing older monster ingredient tokens, UR's, combo/transmuted, etc as part of the token mix. Maybe it could save True Dungeon some money also, by reusing some of those older tokens instead of buying newer tokens for the boxes. Maybe something like 20% of the monster ingredient tokens could be past years, and a larger percentage of the "other" stuff. Or maybe the "other" percentage could be increased if older tokens were included also.

That's kind of what treasure maps were about, wasn't it? I liked them.

I think kirk's point was that within the percentages by rarity, there are some desirable uncommons and rares, and some undesirable ones. Re-using the transmuted tokens will increase the chance of drawing undesirable uncommons and rares.

I support re-use both as a cost saving measure and a materials saving measure, but it would be nice to see something in the treasure mix to make up for the bias toward our unwanted tokens that using transmutes creates.

Is this going to be the first year this is done, or has it been the practice all along?

I'd also enjoy seeing some older tokens pop up in the generators!

Both you and Kirk though make the assumption that tokens turned in for transmuting are less desirable than other tokens. I don't think that is a fair assumption, at least on a large scale.

Let's first look at Argonite. Is there a rare weapon or armor from this year that is more desirable than any other? Yes there are better weapons and armor but if you have so many you are turning them in I highly doubt you are keeping those 'better' tokens. I know I didn't. I need argonite more than I need a rare weapon or armor.

Oil of Enchantment and Elvish Bismuth are the same. No uncommon weapons or armor that is more valuable than 1/25 of their trade token here in my opinion.

Minotaur Hide and Dwarven Steel we can skip because their commons would not go into treasure boxes anyway.

Alchemist's Ink. You may have an argument here. I suspect healing potions are turned in at a much less rate. I know I don't turn them into inks. However I am pretty sure consumables find their way back into treasure boxes eventually. I don't have proof of this except the pulls late Saturday and Sunday seem EXTREMELY heavy in favor of consumables and of the healing variety in particular. This is of a sample size of a 200 to 300 pulls on Saturday night and Sunday the last couple years.

Alchemist's Parachment see what I said about Ink, I think holds true here as well.

Darkwood Planks. If there is a more valuable DP ingredient this year I am missing it. Nothing in uncommons. Maybe the Salamander Figurine in rares. I know out of my 2k order I kept 2 and the rest went to the chopping block.

Enchanter's Munition. Not seeing anything here either. But you may keep them to use in the dungeon, which again I believe still ends up in the boxes once they are used. Again no proof just what my pulls seems to suggest.

Mystic Silk. Definitely some contenders here especially any token used to make a transmute like Linked Shirt of Healing and Shirt of Brawn, but those will get turned in to make transmutes so they will be in the box. Gauntlets of Ogre Power I admit are not getting turned in at the same rate, but they are part of a transmute so at least some will.

Philosopher Stone. Anything part of a transmute will get turned in. After that Medallion of Focus and maybe Earcuff of Inspiration. But I doubt anyone is going to sit on hoards of those.

So I agree that there might be a few tokens that are more desirable but I don't think that it would be in that big numbers.

But if I missed which is very likely please let me know.

There was talk of upgrading the "other" tokens to 5% and if that happens it will more than make up for this.

Depends on how special the "specials" are. I pulled two last year. A potion of distilled healing and a red completion token. Not shabby but not that exciting.

I'm more interested in the outcome on trophies or fleeces.

Well this is what Jeff purposed to us. Haven't heard that it is what it will be or won't but it is something. So it would be an increase of MB's.

25% Uncommons
35% Rares
35% Monster Bits
1% UR
2.5% low-level Transmute
0.5% Relic
0.5% 5,000 GP Bar
0.5% 10,000 GP Bar

True, but in my experience at least, the vast majority of tokens in the treasure map boxes were commons. This would be kind of like the treasure map boxes, but the majority of the tokens would still be 2016 tokens, and the only older tokens that would be added in would be Uncommons, Rares, monster ingredient tokens, and the more rare tokens (combo/transmuted, UR, Relic, etc). Maybe even a few wooden tokens thrown in at the Uncommon or above rarity.

I would like that distribution as long as the lower level transmutes are not the commons now. This being the first year where two commons and 50gp make a transmute that wouldn't be worth a 2.5% share.
